In Kaiju No. 8 Episode 9, fans can expect more chaos to ensue as the Self-Defense Forces deal with the emergence of a new humanoid Kaiju threat. The challenge of confronting an organized Kaiju army under the command of a single entity also poses a significant threat.

Summary of Kaiju issue 8 episode 8
In Kaiju No. 8 Volume 8, titled Welcome to the Self-Defense Forces, the battle between Kafka Hibino – in his Kaiju form – and Soshiro Hoshina begins. Kafka realized that he could not resist Hoshina's relentless attacks, as his attempts to dodge only resulted in severe injuries. Even with Kafka's resilience, the strain on his stamina made it clear that he couldn't keep this up for long.
Meanwhile, Hoshina senses something unusual about the fight but dismisses it in pursuit of victory. As Hoshina launched a devastating attack, Kafka caught the blade, breaking it and giving him a chance to escape. Neither warrior was seriously injured, and Hoshina felt frustrated at being unable to neutralize Kaiju No. 8. He reported to Mina Ashiro, clearly upset.
Meanwhile, Kikoru Shinomiya, sitting among the Kaiju's corpses, worriedly thought about Kafka. When Kafka returns, exhausted from the battle, he apologizes to Kikoru for failing to defeat Kaiju No. 9. Kikoru reminds him to prioritize his health and warns him about being discovered by officers in Kaiju No. 8 . Mina then asked Hoshina about Kaiju Number 9's strength, leading to speculation about its human-like behavior.
Ikaruga reports on the transformation of Kaiju No. 9, shifting the focus to the actions of the new humanoid Kaiju. Later, in Reno Ichikawa's hospital room, Kafka and Kikoru wait by Reno's bedside. Reno thanks Kafka for saving them, accidentally revealing his involvement as Kaiju No. 8 to Furuhashi Iharu. Luckily, Isharu remained clueless.
Later, at the Third Team's base, a celebration takes place, revealing Haruichi's connection to Izumo Technologies as the chefs give him special treatment. As the group talked and drank during the celebration, discussions about improving their skills quickly turned to infighting. Hoshina silences them in Kaiju No. 8 Episode 8 and announces Kafka's promotion.
The next day, Kafka meets with Mina to discuss his promotion, where she reminds him of their agreement and chastises him for addressing her informally. Kaiju No. 8 Episode 8 ends with Kafka witnessing Hoshina training to defeat Kaiju No. 8, revealing his determination to protect his comrades. The final scenes depict another humanoid Kaiju leading several flying Kaiju.
