Review Kaiju No 8 Episode 3: A new sci-fi action anime is out and we're really excited about it. Let's see how the third episode of this brand new series plays out.
Overview of Kaiju issue 8
Kaiju No. 8 stands out as a notable manga character by talented artist Matsumoto Naoya. Taking on the role of adapting the anime are directors Miya Shigeyuki and Kamiya Tomomi, while the task of writing the script and composing the series falls to the talented hands of Ookouchi Ichirou. Gou Fumiyuki, known for works such as Blue Lock, Mieruko-chan, and Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo, serves as music director. Bringing the images to life is Production IG, famous for its work on series such as Haikyuu!! and Kuroko no Basket.
In terms of songs, the opening theme “Abyss” performed by YUNGBLUD, adds a special energy to the series. Meanwhile, the ending theme “Nobody” comes from OneRepublic, perfectly complementing the anime.
Volume 3 of Kaiju No. 8 can also be called volume 3 of Kaijuu 8-gou (怪獣8号).
I've tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I have to cover in order to give a proper response.

Kaiju No 8 Episode 3 Review: New Prodigy
To be honest, today's episode was quite frustrating because all we saw were developments and not a proper conclusion. It's time for the second round of the Self-Defense Forces entrance exam and right away, Kafka meets this year's prodigy Kikoru, who is the top candidate to become a member of the Self-Defense Forces. She comes from a very prestigious family and killing Kaiju monsters is something she is very familiar with. In such a situation, Kafka performed a brave act in front of her and declared that he would pass the exam. But all his courage crumbles when he quickly realizes how useless he is in exams.
Turning 30 is not a joke and it's finally catching up with his dreams. Although he is good at cleaning up Kaiju ruins, his body is not strong at all and even running at fast speeds is a chore for him. Kafka performed so poorly in his endurance tests that he barely made it to last place. However, he also will not be able to use his Kaiju powers because he cannot control his powers. Additionally, he also believes that it would be deception if he used his supernatural abilities here.
He was also encouraged by his friend to pass the exam because of his performance because if by chance Kafka failed to maintain his Kaiju powers evenly, he would be killed immediately. But all his positivity vanished as soon as the second part of today's test began. At first, Kafka thought that they could take on the task of cleaning up Kaiju bodies and he was satisfied with that but then found out that he would have to neutralize the Kaijus with the help of a discovered suit. Special development can draw power from an individual. How much power the suit extracts from Kafka is something I want to keep secret and invite you to find out for yourself.
Verdict
This episode is certainly interesting but at the same time very difficult to watch, because Kafka fails at everything, miserably. And the fact that he's the most powerful person there doesn't help the case at all. You felt frustrated as to why he didn't just use his powers without caring about being discovered, but clearly that wasn't what was supposed to happen. But yeah, Kafka definitely won't give up so soon, and I'm pretty sure the next episode will be absolutely crazy.
