The popular Jump + manga series Kaiju No. 8 is being adapted into an anime. And with just a few weeks before the first episode airs, the main cast of the series appeared at Anime Japan 2024 to talk about the series. However, in a strange twist, the host wanted to “train” the cast's teamwork and ability to understand each other without speaking. However, this is no ordinary “training” because, unbeknownst to the cast, a secret award is being discussed.
Kaiju Stage No. 8 opens with the introduction of the five cast members of the anime series: Masaya Fukunishi (Kafka Hibino), Asami Seto (Ashiro Mina), Wataru Katō (Reno Ichikawa), Fairouz Ai (Kikoru Shinomiya), and Kengo Kawanishi ( Soshiro Hoshina). With a bit of banter between the actors and some minor hiccups, with Seto noting that there were all kinds of Kaiju on stage today, the cast happily continued discussing the film. Fukunishi, in his excitement to work at Anime Japan, gives some of the best explanations, describing the series mostly in onomatopoeia–a great testament to his personality as a person. create mood.
Seeing the close friendship between the actors, the host then started an interesting segment: a game that “trained” the members' teamwork by developing their ability to understand each other without knowing each other. need to say. Describing the game about the characters in Kaiju No. 8, the host said that because the characters need teamwork and the ability to read each other without speaking to fight Kaiju, she thinks this will be A fun little game. To our surprise, the cast showed up and split into two teams. They were told that each team would gain points if members had the same answer to each question. The teams were quickly decided, the first team consisting of Kawanishi and Seto (the team's officers) and the second team consisting of Fukunishi, Kato and Fairouz (the team that had enlisted). Although it seems like the odds are not in favor of enlisting, the three actors will trade off on who will answer each question (Fuknishi and Kato, Fukinishi and Fairouz, and finally Kato and Fairouz).
And the first fateful question is: Which character would you like to be friends with (among the actors here today)? All actors have a moment of quick thinking, but Kato knows exactly who he wants to be friends with. Quick to catch on, Seto joked that this sounded like a strategy to eliminate officers in the team. Since Fairouz did not participate in the question, she could answer freely. After some hesitation, she decided on Iharu, even though his voice actor, Yūki Shin, was not present at the Anime Japan show. However, Fairouz reasoned that Iharu would be there in times of joy and sadness. However, out of the five characters at Anime Japan, Kikoru was the one she chose.
When the teams announced their picks, Fukunishi and Kato of the enlisted team went with Reno and Hoshina respectively, and Kawanishi and Seto of the officer team had Kikoru. Fukunishi joked that his choice in Reno became a form of unrequited love when Kato voiced Reno. When explaining his choice to Reno, Kawanishi even criticized Fukunishi to stop falling in love. With slightly shocked voices, Kawanishi and Seto were happy that they had the same answer, Seto pointed it out to Fairouz. In response, as if out of character, Fairouz confidently said, “The obvious choice.”
With a score of 1 to 0 in favor of the officers in the squad, the second question is: if you were a member of the Self-Defense Forces, would you want ranged or close combat weapons? The cast was grateful for this question because they only had two options. So the possibility of getting the same answer is very high. Or so they think. When revealing their answers, the enlisted teams all had the same answer: close combat. However, there was a slight difference in the way they responded. Fukunishi's answer in Japanese is ド近距離 (dokinkyori, roughly “Melee Battle”), and Fairouz's answer in Japanese is 近巨離 (kinkyori, roughly “big melee”). . However, as noted by the host, she confirmed it was the same answer. The team's officers, though are split right down the middle with Kawanishi choosing close combat and Seto's range. Seto noted that their answers were likely related to the characters they portray, with the majority of the cast agreeing.
The score is 1 to 1; What remains is the final question to see which team will win. The question that decides the actors' fate is: What was the most memorable thing Fukunishi did during filming or interviews? There's a bit of a sarcasm towards Fukunishi, but when you see him on the Anime Japan stage, you get the impression that he's a bubbly and energetic person, and being around him leaves you with You have many beautiful memories. And the host even noted that since Fukunishi didn't participate in this question, the remaining four members were able to reveal some interesting insights into his personality. And the host was not wrong as all four remaining members quickly wrote their answers to Fukunishi's surprise.
So, will either team match their final answer? Fairouz tried his best to get the team to enlist when their response was Kato's “A bunch of bananas” and “The unbelievable amount of drinks he brought. Always carrying enough stuff you think he's running away” by Fairouz. Fairouz's reasoning is that she and Kato have the same answer, a bunch of bananas, if you shorten and extrapolate from her answer. Unfortunately, Fairouz's wishes did not come true and the enlisted team reportedly had different answers. But why bananas? Kato explained that Fukunishi almost always eats bananas, until before the Anime Japan screening when he ate one.

That gives team members a chance to take the lead and win. Their answer was “Smile/laugh a lot” by Kawanishi and the water bottle illustration by Seto. Although the two did not match their answers, Seto and Fairouz were surprisingly of the same opinion. However, despite the mild criticism of Fukunishi, Kawanishi pointed out that because Fukunishi always smiles and the desk leader plays an important role, he makes the workplace fun. So you can see the love and comradery that the cast has for each other.
With the score tied, one would think there would be a question of victory or defeat. But no, the host said both teams will receive gifts. Fukunishi noted that this was a very peaceful way to end the match. However, the gift was not given at the Anime Japan exhibition. Instead, the gift will be given to the cast afterward. However, since this was a secret gift, the cast did not know what it would be, and the host said it would probably be a bunch of bananas after Kawanishi's joking objections.
Kaiju Stage No. 8 AnimeJapan 2024 The show was entertaining to say the least, and the cast built teamwork and the ability to read and understand each other. Hopefully all five members will receive a special gift related to bananas. But we won't know for a few days. Stage show Kaiju No. 8 Anime Japan 2024 is available on the TOHO Anime YouTube channel.
