Witch Hat Atelier will no longer be released simultaneously with the Japanese version on the K MANGA platform. New English releases will follow a week later. The English release of Witch Hat Atelier has previously been delayed multiple times, which K MANGA addressed in a statement via X below:
“Dear fans and readers, Thank you for reading Witch Hat Atelier. After discussing with the author of this series, we have decided to change the English translation release schedule of Witch Hat Atelier. Due to the tight schedule between drafting and translation, instead of publishing simultaneously, the English translation will be released one week after the Japanese version. We extend our deepest apologies to the fans and readers of Witch Hat Atelier for this sudden change. Thank you for your continued support of Witch Hat Atelier and we look forward to bringing you the latest chapter on this new schedule.”
Witch Hat Workshop Episode 1
Kamome Shirahama’s Tongari Boshi no Atorie manga launched in July 2016 in Kodansha’s Monthly Morning Two magazine. Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English under the name Witch Hat Atelier. The manga has over 4.5 million copies in circulation, and an anime adaptation was announced for 2022 with a trailer.
Kodansha USA describes the manga’s plot: In a world where everyone takes magical things like magic and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: she wants to become a witch. . But everyone knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her life without magic, Coco is about to give up her dream of becoming a witch… until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious traveling mage. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everyone “knew” might not be true and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far-fetched as imagined…
