The error on the S7 branch of the APG submarine cable was just fixed on June 29, but on this cable route, a new error occurred on the S1.7 branch. APG route capacity is currently only 50% restored.
Thus, the Internet connection channels of APG cable from Vietnam to international destinations in two directions, Hong Kong and Japan, have been restored, but the direction to Singapore is affected. Therefore, the quality of the international Internet connection cannot return to normal.
The cause as well as the time to fix the problem on the APG cable route have not been notified to the partners by the management unit.
Vietnam currently has five undersea fiber optic cable routes in operation, including AAG, APG, IA, SMW3, AAE-1. In February, for the first time, all five routes had problems, causing the Internet in Vietnam to go abroad to be affected. For the past May, four lines IA, SMW3, AAE-1 and AAG have completed repairs and are in normal operation. Particularly, the APG route was fixed on June 29, but the above error has just arisen.
The broken undersea fiber optic cable has happened quite often in recent years, each malfunction lasts a month. This makes the speed and quality of Internet access in Vietnam greatly affected.
