Summary
Arale, a character from Akira Toriyama’s previous work, is the strongest character in Dragon Ball Super. Arale defeats Goku and Vegeta with ease, displaying absurd strength and abilities. Despite Arale’s immense power, she is still considered a joke character and is not taken seriously by Vegeta or Goku.
When fans think of the most powerful characters in Super Dragon Ball, their minds may be on Goku, Vegeta, or the literal god Beerus, but there’s one character in the anime adaptation who succeeds in defeating all of them. This character coincidentally appeared in one of Akira Toriyama’s previous works: Arale of Dr. Slump.
In the Dragon Ball Super episode titled “Goku vs. Arale! The battle beyond the wall marks the end of the earth?”, the character Arale appears. Despite looking like a fairly ordinary little girl, Arale is in fact a super-powered android with a number of extraordinary abilities at her disposal. However, Arale is generally a kind person, so despite her powers, she doesn’t pose much of a risk to Earth.
In the episode, she is injected with a drug that increases their desire to “play” a hundredfold, causing her to become much more destructive than usual. That’s when Vegeta had to step in to calm her down… or at least try to.
Arale defeats Goku and Vegeta with the utmost ease
Arale immediately threw Vegeta through the wall, shocking Goku who was relaxing on the other side. Vegeta complains that she is a “gag character” with absurd power at her disposal. When Vegeta powers up and delivers an attack, he hits Arale hard enough that she flies around the world in a matter of seconds and hits him from behind, leaving her unharmed. Vegeta even tried to knock her head off, but that didn’t slow her down for long. She knocks Vegeta out with a headbutt, then turns her attention to Goku. Goku isn’t much better, either. despite leveling up to Super Saiyan Blue and trying to take down God Kamehamehawhich she easily deflects.
However, Goku’s harsh treatment begins to go too far, because Arale prepares an attack 100 times stronger as before; they try to call Beerus for help, and he finally appears, only to get a stomach ache and be forced to retreat. Goku and friends never actually defeat Arale, but the drug wears off and she returns to normal. Obviously, as Vegeta noted, Arale is a joke character that works based on what would be funniest, and seeing Goku and Vegeta get taken out by this little girl was certainly entertaining. Vegeta is especially disgusted by this whole ordeal, vowing to never fight a character from an ’80s gag comic again.
Arale is the strongest on Earth?
Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball have crossed paths before, so Arale was already a long-standing part of Dragon Ball lore before this episode, which only appeared in the anime. It raises some questions as to why they’ve never tried to get Arale’s help to defeat the villains before, but ultimately Arale isn’t a warrior, so it wouldn’t make much sense to calls her against opponents like Frieza. However, that doesn’t change the fact that she is capable of a hundred times beyond Super Saiyan Blue levels, making her the undisputed strongest non-god character. Super Dragon Ball–but only if it’s funny.
