Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3, the anime adaptation of the series’ final storyline, continues in 2024 along with a new stage musical.
According to Anime News Network, a new promotional trailer for season 3 of the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime was released at Jump Festa 2024. Titled “The Conflict,” the new trailer is cinematic in style. highlights the Soul Society’s continuing war against the Wandenreich, led by Yhwach. While the fight between Yhwach and Ichigo Kurosaki is the main attraction, the latest anime trailer also shows off new and returning characters from Bleach’s final storyline, such as Sosuke Aizen, Riruka Dokugamine, and Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck.

In addition to the new anime season, Bleach will receive a new rock musical adaptation. Rock Musical Bleach ~Arrancar the Beginning~ is scheduled for release in 2024 and will be based on the original manga by Tite Kubo. Rock Musical Bleach, Another Above Ground was previously celebrated in 2016 as part of the series’ 15th anniversary celebration. It includes the “Soul Society” arc, considered by fans to be the best Bleach storyline.
While Bleach’s new trailer is good news for fans who have been waiting nearly a decade for the final story adaptation, the anime has been hit by recent controversies. Tomohisa Taguchi, director and writer of the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War series, recently faced backlash over comments calling for AI to replace “lazy animators.” Many found Taguchi’s comments insulting and tone-deaf, as the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 production crisis increased public debate about the poor treatment of animators in the anime industry.

The widespread appeal of Anime is once again being demonstrated in the most unlikely of places, with the “Bount” arc of the Bleach anime mentioned in an ongoing court case.
The English dub of Bleach, produced by Viz Media, was also criticized for recasting the black anime character Yoruichi with a black voice actress, Anairis Quiñones, but the role was given to white voice actress Wendee Lee. When Quiñones shockingly announced his departure from the role, Lee criticized those who expressed sympathy for Quiñones. Yoruichi is in the new Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War trailer, so it remains to be seen whether Viz Media will move forward with the casting as it is currently behind its handling of the controversial British role.
