With episode #20 giving fans a bit of hope after previous traumatic events, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 episode #21 is ready to participate in the next epic battle of the Shibuya Incident. Based on the animation in episode #20, this fight could even be on par with Sukuna’s fights earlier in this arc. If so, it could end the Shibuya incident for good.

What happened in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #20?
Still reeling from the most shocking moment of the Shibuya Incident in episode #19, Yuji begins episode #20 by being brutally beaten by Mahito, who managed to perform a black lightning bolt. Luckily, Todo and Arata, a friend from the same school in Kyoto, appeared and saved him. Arata told Yuji that Nobara might actually still be alive and Todo talked to him about how all the witches in Shibuya knew what they were getting into. This energized Yuji, so he and Todo were able to continue their fight against Mahito with more intensity. While synchronizing with Yuji, Todo was also able to perform black lightning against Mahito. So each warrior in battle was operating at 120% of their maximum potential when the episode ended.
Mechamaru also had an emotional farewell to Miwa.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #21 will tell the story of Shibuya’s climactic fight
All of Yuji’s suffering in Shibuya stemmed from this war against Mahito. This makes their final fight even more exciting to watch, as every blow Yuji lands to break the curse has both a physical and emotional weight to it. Since it looks like Mei Mei’s fight with Geto’s body may have been resolved off-screen since Gojo’s prison is missing, this could even be the final climactic battle of this arc. If that’s the case, it would make sense for the animators to make it one of the best battles of the season and end the Shibuya Incident on a high note.
Although Studio MAPPA encountered problems during the production of Jujutsu Kaisen, it seems that this did not stop the animators from creating some incredible work, as episode #20 showed. As of now it’s unclear whether the rest of the fight will be animated well, but hopefully it will. If Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 episode #21 manages to meet the high standards set for the rest of the season, then it will give fans an exciting climax to one of the best installments of Shonen anime.
Do not miss Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 episode #21 when it airs on Crunchyroll on December 14, 2023.
