So as some of you may know that there has been a lot of speculation about the quality of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2; For those of you who don’t know, a lot of Jujutsu Kaisen staff overlap with Chainsaw Man staff, which makes people wonder, how good this show will be, because the schedule or the same must be very terrible.
When the staff of the MAPPA animators finished Jujutsu Kaisen season 1, they immediately Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie and then transferred it to the Chainsaw Man team. Chainsaw Man ended a few months ago and Jujutsu Kaisen will air this summer for two consecutive episodes.
Naturally, the team probably doesn’t have much time, so how well this season can go is something many in the fandom are wondering. Well, thanks to the new trailer, we now have a better understanding of the same thing.
Now before we get into the actual trailer, let’s talk about the staff changes and it’s some of the big changes this time around.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Staff Change
As many of you know, the director of the previous series, Sunghoo Park, has left both the Jujutsu Kaisen Project and the MAPPA Studio. He was a big part of the production and he himself created a ridiculous amount of money for this show, so when he left, there was a lot of conversation about who would replace him. so he.
The name Shōta GOSHOZONO has been thrown around a lot, and the main image with the fisheye effect only fuels those rumors, we finally know for sure, that the new series, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2is actually Shōta GOSHOZONO.
If you don’t know who Shōta GOSHOZONO is, he’s one of the most creative minds in the industry right now. His directorial work includes Episodes 8 of Chainsaw Man, Episodes 8 and 17 of Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2, and Episodes 17 and 21 if Rank of Kings, and yes, Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2 will be the first. his hand as the series director.
In addition, the art director of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Jun’ichi Higashi, is currently the art director for the second season, and there seem to be some changes in the CGI department as well.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Trailer Animation Analysis
Intro Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 opens up with some really nice and aesthetically pleasing backgrounds. You may notice that the character design looks a lot simpler than in the first part, many details on their costumes are removed and their faces are drawn in a simpler way, with almost no any excess lines.
Of course, these changes make characters easier to draw, which means more characters can be drawn, which means more movement and animation. The cut animation in this trailer is always moving, and so is the hypothetical camera. Of course, camera movement is being worked out, considering that GOSHOZONO is the new director.
Gojo’s head movement in the trailer and the camera movement that goes with it, make this simple cut look really interesting. Geto’s workflow here looks impressive as well, and there’s a lot of frames assigned to those simple movements, plus, the shadows on his face are done very well.
Also, remember what I said about the character design, it’s simpler this time, this is more or less close to Geto’s face and hardly any superfluous work, unlike what MAPPA is really, really famous. While I don’t think this is bad, in fact it looks very aesthetically pleasing, of course, it wouldn’t look good if everything around the character didn’t complement that look, but they do, and because so it works.
Once again being able to see a lot of movement in simple scenes, that’s what I personally love. You can also see the classic fisheye effect in many places, GOSHOZONO loves to do it!!
Then we get more action sequences that start with the Geto scene, also adorable stains on his hands. While yes, the character looks a lot simpler, the curses are still pretty detailed, preferring the thick lines on the curses. The look and aesthetics of curses if they’re the same as in Season 1, they should be, don’t fix what’s not broken!!
However, a lot of motion blur can be seen, I hope they soften a bit with the blur. Add a signature fisheye effect on the background, with Gojo, and also have a great perspective shot with the top floor to shorten, the flying glass pieces look really nice. The specific scene with Gojo is extremely good, it starts with a shot in a stiff Dutch angle… zoomed out and panned to the side… while in sync with Gojo’s hand movements.
Plus, the flying debris makes the scene especially dramatic. Then we’ll probably get the best cut of the entire trailer, Toji… (I won’t reveal his last name) gets this crazy action scene. Right off the bat you can see some really nice background animations and fisheye effects on the background, of course.

Toji’s moment and time-alike is incredibly fluid and energetic with really powerful blurs, and it’s also a dynamic cut with Toji taking up a small portion of the show in one frame and most of the screen in the next frame. He actually leaves the frame at a time and re-frames it, while swinging his weapon at the three mock cameras.
Now, most cuts will end up here, and this one might as well. It’s hard to say, but it looks like the cut continues and the camera keeps moving, panning up and down through lots of beautiful debris. The camera then moves over Gojo’s fingers with Toji in between them.
It’s either a complicated cut or a few cuts and you can expect more of these cuts from this season. Also, this is a good place to talk about digital elements; the digital effects look a lot better than the first part, these digital effects and filters were a big deal in the first part, but this time around, they look softer and more appropriate more.
Plus, there’s the classic spray fisheye effect. The rest of the trailer is mostly static shots with some character movement here and there, and all the compositions look clean except for some abuse of motion blur, but I didn’t think the minute-long trailer could give us a proper look. watch the compilation, so I’ll wait for the actual episode, but overall this trailer is really good.
If this is the level of quality throughout Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2, then this part will be a lot better than part one. Sunghoo Park, leaving the group must have been a huge shock to both the production and the creative side. Park has this gritty, hard-hitting martial arts-inspired action style that’s inimitable. You can’t get past Sunghoo Park, Shōta GOSHOZONO will bring a whole new look to the series, and he will have to.
Although we won’t get what we expect from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, but I’m not worried because whenever Shōta GOSHOZONO directs an episode, he does something really unique, and not just once but every time. This is why imagine what a young man will be when he directs the entire series. Witnessing what crazy visuals will make you excited, right?
