As Japan celebrates April Fool’s Day this year, popular anime series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Love Live! are pranking their fans with hilarious parodies.
Jujutsu Kaisen fans were amazed to see the combination of the dark fantasy series with the cute and cuddly Pui Pui Molcar. Pui Pui Molcar is a two-minute stop-motion anime series about sentient vehicles that are a combination of cars and guinea pigs. A trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 was recently released, teasing fans with Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto’s first exploits as high school students in 2006. Anime audiences won’t long wait because Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will premiere on July 6th.
World Dai Star, the upcoming multimedia project for “stage girls,” is also involved in a number of April Fools’ day scams. The film has released a new promotional poster that is very similar to another anime series by Bandai Namco Filmworks. Love Live parody poster! Sunlight!! anime isekai Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror. Set in the 20th century, the World Dai Star anime takes place in a world where Dai Star stage performers are a worldwide phenomenon. 16-year-old Kokona Ōtori auditions for the Sirius troupe in hopes of becoming a Big World Star. The new anime series will premiere on April 9.
Just like World Dai Star, Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror parodied another isekai anime by releasing a new promotional image. As anime fans have noticed, Aqours’ layout is similar to that of That Time I Got Reborn As A Slime. The anime staff for Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror also released a trailer for a video game based on the series, presented as a classic, 2D side-scrolling game. Of course, with this being April Fools, the tie-in video game is just a joke. However, the Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror anime announcement was previously presented as an April Fool’s joke before becoming a reality.
Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror will air in July. Many anime series based on Love Live! The School Idol Project franchise is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
