Following the release of Chapter 262, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga is currently on hiatus. The sudden suspension of publication was due to the sudden illness of Gege Akutami, author and illustrator of the Jujutsu Kaisen series.
Weekly Shonen Jump magazine made an announcement regarding Akutami's health, posted by the Shonen Jump News account on X (formerly Twitter). Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #29 will mark the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen's two-week break, concluding with the release of Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #31. No further information about Akutami's health has been publicly released, although the relatively short hiatus suggests he is expected to recover soon.

Jujutsu Kaisen outsells its main Shonen Jump competitor 2-to-1
Jujutsu Kaisen dominates the first half of 2024, with new manga sales data revealing the series is outselling its competition by more than double.
Unfortunately, Jujutsu Kaisen's sudden two-week delay comes at a crucial time for the series. A fan-favorite character has returned from the grave to take on Ryomen Sukuna once again — though not in the way fans expected. Although fans were disappointed by this week's short chapter release, only seven pages long, many still expressed their full support for Akutami. Other X users are also reminding fans of the heavy workload Akutami put in before taking a break.
Major Shonen Jump creators often face serious health problems
Akutami is not the first Shonen Jump author to pause work due to health problems. My Hero Academia's Kohei Horikoshi delayed the release of Chapter 414 on February 13, also due to illness, followed by a two-week recuperation period in early February. The Hunter x Hunter series in particular has become infamous for its indefinite hiatus that lasted for many years. Once again, Hunter x Hunter's hiatus was due to the poor physical health of its creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, who had difficulty sitting and drawing due to chronic back pain. However, positive social media updates from Togashi suggest that Hunter x Hunter will be published again soon.
