Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2 sold better than Part 1 despite the MAPPA controversy
The backlash against animation studio MAPPA did not affect Blu-ray and DVD sales of Jujutsu Kaisen as Season 2’s first week sales easily surpassed any of Season 1’s.
Nobara’s quote, “It’s not that bad,” emphasizes the writing style of Jujutsu Kaisen manga author Gege Akutami. The theme throughout the story is that Jujutsu Mages are putting their lives at risk, reflecting on an often touching but mundane truth or realization that comes too late. Nanami’s last moments recall a conversation he had with a baker when he wished to visit a beach in Kuantan, Malaysia. Nobara’s final moments include the realization that the friends she made after leaving her homeland ultimately brought her fulfillment in life.
Ultimately, Akutami’s style proved too divisive for some. Although death is a core theme in many shounen manga, few use it as often as he does. The story was increasingly criticized that the death only traumatized Yuji with no qualms about character development or franchise fans. However, others object to this, stating that demographic and genre norms should not determine what Akutami can or cannot do, and also that death often cuts sentences short. stories in hurtful ways.
