The wizards in Jujutsu Kaisen do not directly challenge tough villains.
Instead, they came up with a few backup plans. In addition to the long battle with the Curse King Sukuna, the Shinjuku Showdown arc also featured an unconventional battle between Takaba and Kenjaku. In chapter 243 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Takaba sacrificed himself to give Yuta an opportunity to attack Kenjaku. Kenjaku was slashed in the neck by Yuta Okkotsu who suddenly appeared from behind. Yuta then left Rika to deal with the curses that had gotten out of control, which were released by Kenjaku's death.
The ancient wizard's sudden death surprised many fans. It was hard to believe that an important villain like Kenjaku would leave so easily.
Now, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269 reveals that Todo also has a role in the fight with Kenjaku.
When Maki says that she should join Yuta in ambushing Kenjaku, Todo reveals that the Boogie Woogie technique won't work on Maki and that Yuta will have a hard time without him.
However, this revelation doesn't come as much of a shock to fans thanks to a certain theory from November 2023. As one reader wrote:
“Yuta is using Todo's technique!! Before Yuta slashed Kenjaku's neck, it made a 'Kaan' sound. This is the sound of 拍子木 (Knock on wood). Then Yuta and Kenjaku's positions were switched. Because Yuta was in between Takaba and Kenjaku after that. He copied Todo's Boogie Woogie!!”
This theory is shared before Todo joins the battle in chapter 259. After Todo arrives, the manga reveals how he uses his Boogie Woogie thanks to a special tool called “Vibra-slap”.
After Todo joined the battle in May 2024, another famous fan shared: “In fact, Todo assisted Yuta twice. Once by swapping Yuta and Kenjaku's positions. Once by bringing Kenjaku's head closer to Yuta for the finisher. Both times, you could hear the clanging of Todo's Vibra-slap.”
