「変身-弐-」 (Henshin-Ni-)
“Metamorphosis, Part 2”
OH? A truly timely review?! Don’t get used to it because we have one more episode left. J.K. I was officially released from office duties and could relax and play video games all day—and they paid me. Capitalism I tell you. My office returns on day 3. Life updates aside, let’s start the episode.
I completely agree with this. Like I mentioned before-this ending-although quite similar-is much harder to figure out in the manga, like I feel-oh really?! – the big battle translates to the anime a lot better and the fun moments that the manga brought to the table are carried out here to their fullest extent. For example – when Geto finally exorcised Mahito. Here Mahito was almost begging for his life, begging to continue living in those final moments. The manga is very similar – oh yes that happened – as if it were a different feeling. That’s why I’m so satisfied with the way they handled the ingredients. They are doing whatever they want and taking risks left and right. But that’s a good thing because manga don’t always translate into anime. So the director did a great job of seeing movement in the frames. But I’m gushing. It’s just a different experience.
Okay, so why Uzumaki? Don’t quote me on this because I don’t really remember my source – probably Reddit – but I think Gege really wanted to pay tribute to Junji’s Ito Uzumaki by incorporating it as a special skill. That’s right – it’s Uzamaki, the famous horror manga about a town swallowed by a vortex. Actually, the person squirming in the well is that person. In fact, it’s almost eerily similar. I think maybe I read this on the manga pages. Again don’t quote me—but the similarities are there. And it’s big enough to evoke such thoughts. Not only that – Geto’s attack also has the same name as Junji’s main work Ito. And even very similar.
Besides pointing out the obvious, I thought I’d confirm it for anyone thinking if that’s the case – it is. Anyway-Choso appears and finally informs the viewers that he is actually Yuji’s brother. It’s all very complicated but he doesn’t talk nonsense. Yuji is actually related to Choso. But this connection will likely be fully revealed in the next episode. They make it a big plot point in this episode. Which I really like. So Choso has officially joined the association of good people. Choso plays an important role later in the manga! Yuji even felt heartwarming that at one point he could call him oni-chan. Yes, it involves blood. About 20 years or so difference. How old is Yuji again?!
Choso’s dedication to brotherhood is everything to him and he must protect his cause at all costs—this includes going against Geto, whose plans have changed slightly. But Geto is not worried.
I liked this fight – I would have loved a bloody Itano Circus but we were limited in time. There’s another little moment that I like–it’s almost like Yuji is about to let his hair down but he pushes it up. As if his appearance and hair were important to maintaining his strength. Miwa also appears to protect everyone and avenge Mechamaru. But it’s like she can never do anything. This girl needs to cook and get back to OP. And in a final deux ex machina. Yuki arrives on the scene—returning to a previous scene at the beginning of the season. Actually, what is Geto’s type?
However – here it is Infinity War but with Jujutsu Mages. Looking forward to next week. What are your thoughts?
