Winter sports season is upon us, and for many people, that means hitting the slopes for skiing or snowboarding. But getting those lift tickets can be a bit pricey. Luckily, Nippon Ski Resort Development (NSD) has just the right program for kids: the NSD Kids Program. And this year kids will want to sign up for a Pokémon-themed season lift pass.

Season passes featuring Pokémon designs are now on sale from the “NSD Kids Program,” giving kids the chance to make their debut in the snowy mountains!
Elementary school students and younger can ski as much as they want at eight ski resorts.
Head to the snowy mountains with your own season pass with a photo of your face on it!
The NSD Kids Program was developed by NSD so children can ski or snowboard at an affordable price. According to the official website, for just 1,500 yen (about US$10.30) children between the ages of 4 and 12 can use ski lifts at 12 different ski resorts across Gunma and Nagano prefectures. , Niigata, Miyagi, Gifu and Shiga. Granted, there are some limitations. These include not being able to use the pass for group or school trips, not being able to use the pass to enter certain areas at Meiho Ski Resort and Hakuba Valley Kashimayari Ski Resort, not being able to Use it on select lifts at Sugardaira Kogen Hare Ski Resort and receive official membership ticket benefits at Miyagi Zao Eboshi Resort. However, the real selling point is the design of season passes and rentals as well as purchasable skis and snowboards.
In partnership with The Pokémon Company, the NSD Kids Program season upgrade pass features, in pokédex order: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Galarian Ponyta, Galarian Darumaka, Greedent, Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly are frolicking in the snow on the back and Pikachu wearing an adorable winter hat on the front. Definitely a cool little design and a keepsake for when the ski/snowboard season is over.
Kids’ skis and snowboards available to rent or buy also feature great designs. With a yellow color scheme and black trim, both items feature multiple Pikachu in different poses, Pikachu with Pichu and a poké ball. Both skis and snowboards come in different lengths. Skis and snowboards of any length are listed at 29,800 yen (about $204.67) to buy and are limited to 50 sets each and appear to have sold out. Luckily, kids can still enjoy Pikachu skis and snowboards through rentals at 12 resorts. However, those are also on a first-come, first-served basis. So families will want to get to the resort fairly early to ensure they get a pair.
