With news of a One Piece remake looming, One Piece Film: Red animation director Hiromi Ishigami posted on X to express his concerns. “I feel a bit sad that the value of the anime we have built so far seems to be decreasing,” Ishigami wrote on X. However, fans around the world were quick to remind the talented director that his and his team’s work means a great deal to millions of people and will continue to do so for years to come.

The grateful artist went so far as to respond to many kind messages, saying, “I’m glad you took it seriously. I have been watching this anime since I was a child, I am happy that we can talk about the same anime across generations.” While the remake will likely be great, there will always be fans who prefer the original film.
