Media company Imagica Group announced on Tuesday that it and its subsidiary OLM are changing their chief executive officer and chief operating officer. These changes will take effect from April 1.
Imagica Group director and CEO Shunjiro Nagase will assume the roles of president, representative director and CEO of Nobuo Fuse. Fuse would later take over as director. Toshiaki Okuno will step down as president and CEO of OLM, and current vice president and director Hideki Kama will replace him. Okuno will remain as director.
Fuse, Okuno and Atsushi Shinohara will step down as chief executives of Imagica Group. Meanwhile, Kama has been appointed executive director in charge of animation business and content creation. Executives switching roles include Nagase (newly appointed to head film, commercial sales and content creation in addition to his roles as president and CEO), Masashi Nakamura (now in charge of business leading entertainment media business, production technology services, and global sales), and Masaharu Yoshizawa (newly transferred to the business development and promotion team). Other executives include senior executives Masakazu Morita, Akira Shimura (commercial and broadcast post-production services business, production technology services) and Takashi Takimizu (imaging systems, solutions and group technology development) will remain in their current roles.
The company will announce other changes in the way it manages its subsidiaries on February 29.
Imagica Group’s Oriental Light and Magic (OLM) subsidiary, the Pokémon anime studio and several other companies, launched a media content venture capital fund in March 2021. Imagica Group acquired OLM in 2015.
OLM is best known for producing anime such as various television anime, Pokémon films and anime videos, and the Yōkai Watch film and television anime. The studio also animated the anime Future Card Buddyfight, Berserk, BanG Dream!, Atom The Beginning, Inazuma Eleven, To Heart and Utawarerumono, as well as the film Miss Hokusai
Imagica Group transferred part of the animation production and webtoon sales of its subsidiary IMAGICA Image Works to its publishing subsidiary Shufunotomo Infos in April 2023. IMAGICA Image Works provided animation production support for the anime such as Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale and Fate/Apocrypha.
Imagica Corporation established IMAGICA Lab., a company formed by the merger of its subsidiaries Imagica, Imagica West and IMAGICA Image Works into”IMAGICA Lab”. in October 2018 as part of the parent company restructuring process. Imagica Robot Holdings restructured in October 2018 and changed its name to Imagica Corporation. The parent company was established as Imagica Robot Holdings following the merger between video production companies Imagica and Robot in 2006.
