Hunter x Hunter's acclaimed author, Yoshihiro Togashi, has completed the first new chapters of the manga in over a year, sparking excitement among fans just hours after Volume 38's release date was announced.
Through Togashi's official X account (formerly Twitter), he confirmed in a post that he had finished Hunter x Hunter Chapter 402, signing a new color illustration with his name and captioning it “HORROR ANGEL,” which appears to be the name of the chapter. Just a few hours later, Togashi went on to reveal that he had also finished an untitled Chapter 403. Readers can check out the posts and more information below.

Hunter x Hunter's Yoshihiro Togashi Reveals Artwork for His Newly Completed Chapters
Togashi's second post garnered more likes than the first. This may have been due to the author having completed not one but two chapters as of March 9, 2023, but also due to the caption, “Number 403, finished. Coloring was really fun.” His return to X in May 2024 marked the beginning of regular updates and a sense of excitement, drawing fans in with never-before-seen artwork and reimaginings of magazine covers, and even providing insight into his hobbies. Togashi's settling into a comfortable rhythm was personally confirmed in 2023, when he stated, “Although the production system is still not perfect, I'm happy that the amount of time I spend working at my desk has been increasing little by little.”
His recent return comes as Hunter x Hunter Volume 38 gets a release date later this year—the first new volume since his previous hiatus in 2022. Fans will most likely see new chapters this year; his update on July 24 revealed that he's finishing up Chapter 404. Meanwhile, Togashi has begun work on Chapter 416, showing how he's working on his manuscripts simultaneously.
