FAIRY TAIL: DUNGEONS launched on August 26, and Hiro Mashima shared that he pocketed 10 million yen (~$70k USD) before the game even launched. It sold over 10,000 copies in its first two days, launching to 'Very Positive' reviews so far on Steam. The game is priced at $13.99 on the platform, with a 20% introductory discount until September 2. You can check out the trailer for the game, which is described as a deck-building roguelite.
FAIRY TAIL: DUNGEONS – Gameplay Trailer
The game was developed by ginolabo and published by Kodansha. It offers players 5 playable characters: Naruto, Lucy, Gray, Erza, and Wendy, each with their own special abilities. It has an original story that is described as:
Natsu and Happy find a mysterious door that suddenly appears below the guild.
On the other side of that door is a strange dungeon that robs any intruder of their abilities.
There they are saved from monsters by Rabi. Together they try to go to the deepest part of the dungeon to find Rabi's friend.
Hiro Mashima wrote and drew the Fairy Tail manga, which was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine from August 2006 to July 2017. Its sequel, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, features art by Atsuo Ueda and is currently in progress. It is also getting an anime adaptation.
In addition to mentioning that he paid to support FAIRY TAIL: DUNGEONS, Hiro Mashima also thanked everyone for playing the game and confirmed that he himself is a player.
