Well, it looks like I've found an interesting original anime show inspired by Sunrise's classic racing anime Future GPX Cyber Formula. This is Highspeed Étoile, an original anime series from Studio A-Cat in which racers compete on real-life tracks (albeit with new names) using advanced formula cars powered by a new type of energy called Hybrid or Hyper Efficiency Exceed Reactors.
These races are known as NEX Races, where they are the highest form of motorsport, surpassing Formula One. And this is one of the racers named Lorenzo M. Salvatore, who won so many races so many times that people called him “King.”
Of course, there was one driver who finished 2nd in the NEX Race Championship. And that was Alice Summerwood, who was known as “The Queen”.
Oh yes, this is Lorenzo M. Salvatore, although he is fascinated by Alice's beauty, he is really focused on winning another champion.
By the way, it looks like Studio A-Cat went the CGI route for both the mecha and the characters and while it looks pretty good, some people prefer the traditional hand-drawn animation.
With that said, Lorenzo M. Salvatore won another NEX Race Championship, where the final round took place at Neo Fuji Speedway, even though the track owners didn't bother to put in SAFETY barriers MORE at the corner Daiichi is famous for relying on artificial intelligence to protect its drivers from going off course.
Even so, Lorenzo's victory inspired many fans, but it gave every driver a feeling of despair at not being able to beat the king. Even when they are aided by artificial intelligence, Lorenzo M. Salvatore still cannot prevent most drivers from quitting.
This included Falk Ogura from Izanami Racing, where he decided to hang up his helmet and let two junior drivers, Towa Komachi and Kanata Asakawa, succeed him.
It was a pity that Falk Ogura tried his best to capture the King, but failed because his skills were not enough to take down Lorenzo M. Salvatore. And by the way, Kanata and Towa are not the main characters of this story…
You see, Highspeed Étoile revolves around a former ballerina named Rin Rindou, who is about to make her debut as a HyperER racer.
And she won't get there on her own because Rin is assisted by an AI named Ami, which is installed in Rin's HyperPER car.
In any case, I'm looking forward to the next episode of Highspeed Étoile because I want to see what Rin Rindou is capable of as a rookie racer. Then I worried that her shaking hands might lose their grip on the steering wheel.
