Hello Kitty creator Sanrio has teamed up with Japanese jewelry brand IK to create new sparkling pendants, with the new pieces able to be used as necklaces or handbag keychains to stand out to fans at home and abroad.
The “Hello Kitty Big Face Pendant Necklace” was released on IK’s website via the official Sanrio News X account (formerly Twitter). As the name suggests, the necklace features a large Hello Kitty face, measuring 6.5cm tall, 5.3cm wide, and 0.5cm thick. It comes in two versions: silver (using a rhodium substitute) and gold (plated), both priced at 16,500 yen (~US$113). IK ships worldwide via its WorldShopping service; you can see images and more information below.
This necklace is available through the IK online store and is described as suitable for wearing or using as a bag decoration. Sanrio introduces, “Big impact ☆ Introducing the 'Hello Kitty Big Face Pendant' from IK! It sparkles beautifully ★ Unisex style with adjustable chain length ♡ You can shorten it and use it as a bag decoration ♪.” The necklace comes with a freely adjustable 60cm long chain and a special box with purchase.
IK's release follows a number of recent Hello Kitty jewelry launches, including from major US retailers like Claire's, whose collection includes earrings and necklaces, as well as positive-message fashion brand Little Words Project. The latter collection celebrates several popular Sanrio characters, including Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll and Keroppi, distinguishing them with bold names and cute mascots. IK's jewelry also shares similarities with the Hello Kitty x Lanvin En Bleu KAWAII DIVA series, which released similar silver and gold-plated jewelry to celebrate Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary.
