Throughout the Transformers franchise, there have been a number of Optimus Prime toys released over the years. Now, two of the most recent takes on the Autobot leader are being re-released, giving fans another chance to add them to their collections.
In a similar re-release of another Optimus Prime toy, figures from Transformers: Legacy and the Transformers Studio Series are also being re-stocked at various retailers. One of these in particular originates from the Netflix anime and acts as an update to his classic Generation 1 form. Equipped with a variety of features and accessories, these figures can recreate Optimus Prime's greatest moments from many Transformers sequels.

Gamer and Earthrise versions of Transformers Optimus Prime are re-released
The Optimus Prime figures being re-released are Transformers: Legacy United Leader Class War for Cybertron: Earthrise toys and Transformers Studio Series Voyager Class Gamer Edition Optimus Prime. The former itself is a re-release/rebrand of a previous figure from the Transformers: War for Cybertron line. The toy line is a tie-in to the Netflix “anime” series of the same name, with Optimus Prime's design being an update of his Generation 1 counterpart. Prime himself transforms into a tractor taxi and he is equipped with a trailer that can transform into a modular battle station/repair facility. In robot mode, the Autobot leader wields an ion blaster, a shield, and the Autobot Leadership Matrix, allowing him to take down any Decepticon that stands in his way.
The Gamer Edition Optimus Prime toy is based on the video game Transformers: War for Cybertron. Despite his familiar aesthetic, the figure has a more alien design and transforms into a Cybertronian truck. Along with his own version of the ion blaster and Matrix, he also wields a powerful ax (his melee weapon in the game, based on the energy ax used in the first episode of The Transformers). These toys are now available again through online and in-store retailers, as is the Transformers Studio Series Optimus Prime figure from the Bumblebee movie.

Transformers: Legacy Celebrates the iconic history of the franchise
The Transformers: Legacy toy line has been in production for many years now, with the series featuring characters and concepts from a variety of sources. The premise of this line is to give each figure a more general, G1-inspired aesthetic for a streamlined, evergreen collection. These include the Autobots and Decepticons from the original Generation 1 sequel, the more organic Maximals and Predacons from the various Beast Wars lines, and the Transformers from the “Unicron Trilogy” anime. This saw several versions of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream and other characters revisited.
The entire franchise is also celebrating its 40th anniversary, with many special characters making their way onto shelves or online retail spaces. One of them is the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Optimus Prime, based on a real-life official Japanese racing car themed after the Transformers franchise. Other characters include a “crossover” toy with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and an as-yet-unrevealed toy line for the upcoming Transformers One animated film.
