Image courtesy of Hanashi MediaHanashi Media announced on Thursday that it will release Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-by author Shiki and illustrator Wan Hachipisu Proclaimed Villainess (Jishō Akuyaku Reijō na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku) light novel series in English in digital form.
The company describes the story:
Gifted to his own detriment, Prince Cecil always finds life mundane. One ordinary day, his life takes an unexpected turn when he gets engaged to Miss Bertia, the Prime Minister's daughter. However, this engagement was far from typical.
“Prince Cecil! I must confess—I am the villain in this story!” Bertia's declaration was astonishing. She claims to have memories of a past life where she was the villain in an “Otome game”. Her noble ambition is to become an excellent villain and thus her engagement is canceled. However, despite her plans for various misdeeds, her efforts are always unsuccessful.
Is her fiancé, who aspires to master the ingenuity of villains, simply a misguided endeavor?
Hanashi Media will release the first episode on July 30 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. The series will have two volumes.
Shiki originally serialized the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, but later took it down. AlphaPolis released the original two-volume novel in 2017. The series is getting a sequel.
Natsume Hasumi drew a manga adaptation of the novel series. AlphaPolis released the manga's sixth and final volume in September 2021. AlphaPolis's Alpha Manga website has published the manga in English, and AlphaPolis has also released the manga in English as a compiled book collection. digitally on Amazon.
