In a recent reveal, Hajime Isayama revealed that the manga Attack On Titan There was supposed to be a prequel but it was later canceled. He cited concerns about the potential disruption of plot continuity as the main reason for the project's cancellation.
This information was revealed in'Attack on Titan FLY art book'. In an interview in the art book, Isayama revealed his original intention was to write a prequel to the main series. He revealed that the prequel is expected to take place a century before the events depicted in the main storyline.
However, despite his initial enthusiasm for exploring the world's rich history Attack On Titan
strong>, he admitted that the difficult task of ensuring perfect continuity posed a significant obstacle. This was one of the main reasons why he abandoned this idea.
“Actually, I was initially developing a story that took place 100 years before the main story. However, when detailing such a plot twist, if there are any departures from the main series it makes no sense. So I needed a lot of determination to actually draw it, so I didn't make any progress writing it.”
The reason he decided on Levi one-shot was to address a lingering curiosity among fans: the peculiar way the character Levi holds a cup of tea. This is something that Isayama previously promised to draw.
“The events at the Angouleme International Comic Book Festival made me realize that the top priority of this oneshot is to make the fans happy. So, instead of the original idea, I decided to make this a one-shot that will reveal something I said I would draw before but haven't drawn yet: 'Why does Levi hold his teacup that way? so strange?'”
