The animated film Haikyu!!: The Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, which debuted at the Japanese box office on February 16, has now grossed over 4.18 billion yen (~$27.76 million), Kogyo Tsushin reports.
1.12 billion yen (~$7.4 million) of that total came from the sequel’s second weekend, keeping it atop the weekend chart (February 23 to 25 ) with an audience of 781 thousand. The total number of viewers to date is counted at more than 2.9 million.
In its opening weekend, Haikyu!!: The Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump grossed 2.23 billion yen (~US$14.79 million) and had an attendance of 1.529 million. . IMAX screenings begin on the same day as regular screenings.
With its current total, Decisive Battle at the Dumpster has surpassed Demon Slayer: Hashira Training with 1.77 billion yen (~$11.74 million) and is approaching the 3.48 billion yen mark ( ~23.09 million USD) of Mobile Suit Gun Seed Freedom. The films hold third and fourth positions on the weekend chart, opening on February 2 and January 26, respectively.
Spy x Family Code: White, which premiered on December 22 last year, continues to remain in seventh place on the chart. Last week, it was reported that they made over 6 billion yen (~39.8 million USD).
