In an exciting announcement for fans Great Teacher Onizukawe revealed that the original cast of the 1998 film adaptation will reunite for the upcoming TV series GTO Revival.
Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Yuta Yamazaki, Yosuke Kubozuka, Hidenori Tokuyama, Shun Oguri and Naohito Fujiki, who portray important characters such as Kunio Murai, Masaru Watanabe, Yoshito Kikuchi, Kenji Youda, Noboru Yoshikawa and Ryuji Saejima turns in the iconic series to reprise his role in this highly anticipated revival.
It was previously revealed that Takashi Sorimachi will return to portray the role of Onizuka.

Plot for GTO Revival is described as follows:

Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO), is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tooru Fujisawa. It was originally serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from January 1997 to February 2002, with the chapters collected into 25 tankobon volumes.
A sequel manga series titled GTO: 14 Days in Shonanran in Weekly Shonen Magazine from June 2009 to September 2011. Another sequel, titled GTO: Paradise Lostwhich began serialization in Weekly Young Magazine in April 2014.
12 episodes Japanese television series aired from July to September 1998, live-action film directed by Masayuki Suzuki released in December 1999; and a 43-episode anime television series produced by Pierrot that aired in Japan on Fuji TV from June 1999 to September 2000.
