The official website for Wit Studio’s original Great Pretender television anime series released the first promotional video for the Great Pretender razbliuto sequel anime on Tuesday. The video revealed the anime’s cast, additional staff, Japanese premiere on February 23, and North American screenings on January 9 and 10.

The anime features the majority of the cast from the first anime returning. Hiro Kaburagi returns as director but is now also responsible for writing the series alongside Taku Kishimoto, with previous head writer Ryota Kosawa now tasked with script supervision. Mai Teshima is currently an assistant director. Shōsuke Ishibashi replaced Kyoji Asano as animation director, with Hirotaka Katō returning as animation director. Keita Shimizu is no longer credited as designer, while Akiyo Okuda and Shōsuke Ishibashi are still credited. Yumiko Sudou is now appointed art director alongside returning art director Yūsuke Takeda.

The anime will premiere and stream exclusively in Japan on the DMM TV streaming service on February 23 at 24:00 JST (actually February 24 at 12 midnight JST). The anime will be shown in theaters in North America on January 9 and 10. Crunchyroll will stream the anime in over 200 countries outside of China, and Manga Productions holds the master license for the anime in 16 countries in the Middle East . The anime is scheduled to release in the Middle East and South Africa at the same time as Japan.
The anime sequel focuses on Dorothy, a talented con artist who was presumed dead after losing a game with an organization in Shanghai. She finds herself in a small town in Taipei, without any memory of her past. Pursued by Taipei’s gangsters, Dorothy heads to Kyoto, but there, too, something awaits her.
The first anime series premiered in July 2020 on Fuji TV’s +UItra programming block. The anime spans two seasons (a quarter of a year) with a total of 23 episodes.
Netflix began streaming anime outside Japan in August 2020. Netflix has been streaming anime exclusively worldwide but has released it in Japan ahead of the rest of the world.
