During the 71st Kikuchi Kan Awards held on December 1, 2023, Son Goku’s VA Masako Nozawa surprised attendees with a heartfelt statement.
Masako Nozawa was honored with the 71st Kikichi Kan Award for her contributions to Japanese culture.
In his acceptance speech, Nozawa expressed genuine surprise at being chosen for the award, saying, “I am extremely happy to receive such an award. Great award, but I think there must be someone more deserving than me.”
However, the highlight of the speech was when Nozawa revealed his ambitious plans for the future, expressing his intention to continue voicing until he is 182 years old.
“I love being a voice actor. I plan to continue until I am 182 years old.”
Talking about the origin of the number 182, Nozawa said that although it came from left field, it is a number that she quite likes.
“The number ‘182’ suddenly appeared but it’s a number I quite like. I want to live until 182 and say words that everyone can hear, or rather, I really want to do that.”

Throughout her career as a voice actress, she has taken on many male roles, leading her Japanese fans to give her the nickname “Eternal Boy”.
Furthermore, she will also reprise her role as Goku in the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime.
