7 Imitation – Monkey See, Monkey Do
Debuted in Dragon Ball episode #8
Goku's genius in martial arts ability is often mentioned, but several instances have proven it perfectly, such as his ability to copy almost any technique or fighting style after just seeing it once. Although it does not reach the same level of effectiveness as Master Roshi's Kamehameha Wave in Dragon Ball episode #8, a very young Goku is able to perform a small-scale version of the attack after watching Roshi destroy an entire mountain range. He used his mimicry ability again when fighting Jackie Chan in the World Martial Arts Tournament to create his own Drunken Fist fighting style.
Goku's ability to imitate his skills speaks to his natural martial arts aptitude. While some people have photographic memories that allow them to remember extreme details in images and writing, Goku can copy his opponents' movements and energy flows. This is even more impressive after considering that attacks like the Kamehameha took Roshi 50 years to develop. Dragon Ball Super expanded the franchise significantly by including the God of Destruction, Beerus, who helped introduce God Ki and The destructive energy is called Haikai, another technique that Goku almost imitates After watching it it's proven.
6 super shocks bring devastating power at close range
Debuted in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F
Many of Goku's most famous techniques manipulate ki to create large-scale and flashy attacks, which is one reason he brutal one-inch punch, aka Super God Shock Flash, against Frieza, is very interesting. The 2015 film featured the debut of the iconic villain's Golden Frieza transformation, proving powerful enough to compete with Goku's latest god-like forms. However, as the battle continues, it becomes clear that endurance is not Frieza's strong point. This becomes apparent when he throws an angry punch at Goku's face, who takes it head-on and responds with a cold stare and one of the coolest punches of the franchise.
The legendary Bruce Lee helped popularize the one-inch punch attack directly referenced in the 26th Dragon Ball movie. After Goku blocked Frieza's attack, the usually scared and stunned villain did nothing as Goku raised his index finger to his chest, confusing Frieza until it was too late. Goku's fist tightened, and an inch before his mark delivered a vicious punch to Frieza's icy heart. The shockwave from the attack shot out from Frieza's back, and although this was not an attack Goku would normally use, it was an attack that shook Golden Frieza, a form nearly as strong as a god.
5 Reliable Kamehameha Waves of the Turtle School
Debuted in Dragon Ball episode #8
The Turtle School Kamehameha Wave is the wave the first energy blast attack shown in the entire Dragon Ball series. Over the years, it has become one of the world's most famous fictional attacks. It was first demonstrated in an incredible display of power when the seemingly gaunt Master Roshi greatly enhanced himself to launch an attack that destroyed an entire mountain. Goku's first attempt with the technique damaged a small car, but after several story lines, his Kamehameha Wave version proved capable of destroying planets.
Throughout Goku's life, he used his signature attack in many creative ways, while also finding ways to increase its output by enhancing it with other techniques and transformations. Arguably, the most exceptional demonstration of this technique was during the Saiyan Saga when Vegeta attempted to destroy Earth with his own signature attack, the Galick Gun. Despite King Kai's warnings, Goku still tries to use the Kaio-Ken four times over to multiply his Kamehameha to save the world. And low-level Saiyans have only improved it since then.
Although never seen in the anime, the strongest version of the Kamehameha Wave comes from Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta with an attack called 100x Big Bang Kamehameha. He has shown it in some of the best Dragon Ball video games.
4 super dragon punches leave a big impression
Debuted in Dragon Ball Episode #122
Goku has faced many powerful opponents who have pushed the warrior into difficult and desperate situations. The Dragon Ball series shows him being injured more severely than most in subsequent series, especially during his battle with King Piccolo and Piccolo Jr. One of the most desperate battles of the series left nearly all of Goku's limbs broken and injured except for one arm. Much to King Piccolo's chagrin, that was all Goku needed to do one of his most epic attacks left a large hole in his opponent's chest.
The name of the attack is controversial, but popular video games such as Dragon Ball Z: Budakoki Tenkaichi 3 have named the attack Super Dragon Fist. The same attack was used in Dragon Ball GT but was more refined against Super Android 17 when the miniature Goku shot himself through the energy-absorbing enemy's torso. Super Dragon Fist is said to be Goku's most brutal technique. Most finishing techniques in the series kill the loser, but this one literally has the protagonist rushing through the opponent's chest—a chest that belongs to the world's fearsome villains, each responsible for killing beloved characters like Master Roshi and Krillin.
3 Goku's Perfect Super Instinct Giant Form Technique Makes Him A Great God
Debuted in Dragon Ball Super Manga Chapter #66
The Ultra Instinct transformation allowed Goku to perform some incredible attacks and enhance his iconic abilities, but during the Moro Saga, he unlocked a powerful new technique that made him become bigger than ever. Like the Giant Susanoo from the Naruto series, Goku's Perfect Ultra Instinct Giant Form Technique is a manifestation of energy created in solid form. After Dragon Ball Super's fierce Tournament of Power, Goku unlocked the form and saw his divine Ultra Instinct energy surpass the limits of his physical body to form a giant avatar.
Like many of the new abilities Goku learns, he still needs to learn how to fully control his newest technique. The two times he was able to manifest Susanoo Ultrasonic Instinct, he did so unconsciously when all seemed lost against the cosmic-level threats Moro and Gas. It allows Goku to form solid limbs to extend the range of his physical attacks, which he can use to restrain and pin even giant-sized enemies. With more training, Goku can combine it with his other techniques to enhance their effectiveness.
2 Spirit Bomb works better if fans raise their hands
Debuted in Dragon Ball Z Episode #21
Another iconic technique that works brilliantly on a narrative level is the Spirit Bomb. Usually saved as a last resort, the Spirit Bomb is another technique Goku learned from King Kai that played a huge role in saving the world on many occasions. By raising your hands in the air, Goku can absorb life energy and condense it into a physical sphere it grows larger and stronger, depending on how much power he can muster. The formidable attack takes time to perform and leaves Goku vulnerable in preparation, so it is not used often.
Goku's first use of this technique in the Saiyan Saga did not go as planned. After Vegeta defeated Goku, he was still able to gather enough energy that Krillin and Gohan were able to use to deliver a fatal blow against the Prince of all Saiyans, who was shot into the air and screaming. after the Spirit Bomb's energy sent him flying. The attack is most effective against evil opponents, so it proves more effective against enemies like Kid Buu than Jiren in Dragon Ball Super. Once enough people lend their energy to the Spirit Bomb, it can grow to giant size.
The Spirit Bomb itself is strong, but without the support of others, it is not Goku's strongest attack.
1 Kaio-Ken multiplies the viewer's power and tension levels
Debuted in Dragon Ball Z Episode #29
Dragon Ball Z starts off with a bang and spends little time providing Goku with challenging new enemies that he has no chance of defeating without improving his skills. He did it after Piccolo killed Goku and his brother Raditz, sending them both to the afterlife. While on the other side, Goku gained the trust of the god King Kai, who taught him two important techniques that would prove useful in many situations. One of them is Kaio-Ken technique, this technique is both risky and useful.
Goku's Kaio-Ken technique effectively multiplies the user's ki, allowing those with solid ki control to achieve incredible levels of power and speed. However, if the user is not careful, the attack can significantly backfire by causing terrible damage to their body and muscles, leaving them paralyzed. This technique is a great narrative tool that emphasizes the idea of high risk with high reward. Therefore, seeing Goku use this skill has the added potential of raising the excitement level for fans and putting the hero in a stressful situation if he doesn't get the job done.
