Warning: Contains spoilers for chapter #261 of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Summary
Yuta took over Gojo's body using Kenjaku's Cursed Technique, making Gojo's body just a puppet controlled by Yuta. Gojo's return even while controlled by Yuta shows that Sukuna is in trouble, as Yuta has access to Gojo's skills and memories. Yuta's ability to use Limitless along with his own Cursed Technique in Gojo's body makes him a formidable opponent for Sukuna.
Jujutsu KaisenThe latest chapters have single-handedly thrown the fanbase into chaos by revealing the potential return of Gojo Satoru. The battle with Sukuna was certainly filled with unexpected twists, but Gojo's return was something that very few considered a real possibility, especially since Gege Akutami disliked the character and the closure was brought about after his death. That said, chapter #261 finally sheds light on the matter, revealing that Yuta Okkotsu's unexpected sacrifice made it possible for Gojo to return.
Chapter #261 reveals that Yuta took over Gojo's body using Kenjaku's Cursed Technique, revealing that the ghost Sukuna saw at the end of the previous chapter was actually Gojo and not Sukuna's hallucination. This chapter explains that Shoko and the medical team were able to patch up Gojo's body just enough for Yuta to do the rest using the Curse Reverse Technique after entering his body. So, while Gojo is technically back, he is actually a ghost of himselfYuta just controls his body like a puppet.
This chapter also reveals that Yuta planned for Rika to consume Kenjaku to access his Cursed Technique and use it to take over Gojo's body in the first place, which explains Yuji and Todo was not surprised to see Gojo return to the battlefield. Gojo's return even in this form signals trouble for Sukuna, based on what the series has revealed about Kenjaku's Curse Jutsu so far, Yuta has access to all of Gojo's memories, abilities, and skills and capable the strongest he has ever had in Gojo's body.
Gojo's corpse is being manipulated by Yuta Okkotsu
Jujutsu Kaisen Created by Gege Akutami, Chapter #261 “The Inhumane Makyo Shinjuku Showdown Part 33”
As much as fans want Gojo to return from the dead, Gege Akutami clearly has no plans to bring him back. That said, this route ensures that Gojo's return won't be wasted as Yuta will be able to use Limitless to its full potential with Six Eyes, which is the whole point of used Kenjaku's Curse Technique to manipulate Gojo's corpse.
However, as Mei Mei pointed out in chapter #261, there are still some concerns about whether Yuta can survive the ordeal. Little is known about how exactly Kenjaku's Curse Technique works – whether it needs to be continuously activated, activated at regular intervals, or only needs to be used once to transfer. The first two situations are cause for concern, as Yuta can only use the Cursed Technique he copied for five minutes, and Yuta will likely die if he needs to reactivate Kenjaku's Cursed Technique to maintain his soul in Gojo's body.
That said, one thing fans can be sure of Yuta can still use Copy even in Gojo's body, as Kenjaku has been shown to retain the Cursed Techniques of his previous hosts such as Kaori Itadori while still in Geto's body. This means that Yuta may still be able to use many of the cursed techniques he copied along with Limitless, making his abilities more difficult. The current form is the pinnacle of the best jujutsu has to offer.
The ghost of Gojo Satoru still haunts Sukuna
Sukuna could eventually be overwhelmed by Yuta in Gojo's body
Gojo's return at this point in the battle even with Yuta controlling his body would definitely cause trouble for Sukuna, who seems to have used every hidden card at his disposal. Sukuna revealed all his hidden techniques, including his ultimate secret technique Sacred Flame. Chapter #260 clearly states that Sukuna's Curse Energy level has dropped to Yuta's level and his Curse Technique has been worn away.
So, having to fight Gojo again at this point would mean defeat for Sukuna, especially if Yuta can still use his own Cursed Technique in Gojo's body. Chapter #261 also drops an ominous hint that the current domain conflict may be Sukuna's last, as Gojo discovered the key to destroying Sukuna's barrier-free domain before he died. Since Kenjaku has full access to all of Geto's memories, Yuta certainly has access to this secret to overcome Sukuna's domain and can finally accomplish what Gojo could not.
However, Jujutsu Kaisen proved once again how unpredictable its story can be. Gege Akutami has always had a talent for catching readers off guard, and bringing back a character like Gojo in such a controversial way after his shocking death is sure to cause a stir. Which says, Gojo's return also promises that the final leg of the battle with Sukuna is about to get much more interesting, even if Yuta Okkotsu's fate is still undecided.
