Go! Go! Loser Ranger’s Super Sentai Inspiration
Go! Go! Loser Ranger is a superhero action series inspired by the Japanese Super Sentai series, also known as Power Rangers in the West. It takes place in a world where an evil organization of aliens tries to invade Earth, only to be defeated by a team of color-coded superheroes known as the Dragon Keepers. After that, the monsters are forced to show a humiliating defeat in front of the public every Sunday, continuing to pretend that the battle is still going on. However, after all these years, one of the infantrymen, known as D, grew tired of it and decided to rebel. So he infiltrated the Dragon Keepers himself by getting his hands on one of their weapons and posing as one of them.
Despite its popularity, the Power Rangers franchise was never adapted into an official anime. However, some parody has turned the concept into a satirical series. For example, Love After World Domination is a romantic comedy that humorously explores what would happen if a ranger fell in love with a member of an army of villains. Also, Samurai Flamenco is an anime that plays to the superhero formula adorably. Go! Go! Loser Ranger is the next to continue the tradition of parodying the famous property.
Negi Habruba, writer and illustrator of Go! Go! Loser Ranger is also known for his comic book series The Quintessential Quintuplets, which released a feature-length film in 2022. Additionally, the Power Ranger series recently received a new Netflix feature length special for the Mighty series. The original Morphin’ Power Rangers, a collection of many of the original members. According to actor David Yost, who plays Blue Ranger Billy Cranston, this particular has opened the door to even more projects.
Go! Go! Loser Ranger is available for purchase at all participating bookstores. Four volumes are available at the time of writing, with Volume 5 slated for release on June 20, 2023.
