Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood overtakes Oshi no Ko to become the highest rated anime series on MyAnimeList.
As detailed on Anime Senpai, the iconic shōnen is currently the #1 highest-rated series on MyAnimeList with 9.10, barely reclaiming the throne from Oshi no Ko. Doga Kobo’s hit series is currently in 2nd place with a rating of 9.09. Attack on Titan: The Final Season and Stein’s Gate tied for third, both currently at 9.08.
About Aka Akasaka’s Oshi no Ko
Based on the manga by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, the Oshi no Ko anime topped the popularity charts even before its premiere. On Anime Corner, the series won the #1 Most anticipated Anime title of Spring 2023, defeating the very popular Demon Slayer. Fans also gave the first episode of Oshi no Ko a 9.32 rating, well ahead of Demon Slayer and MAPPA’s Hell’s Paradise with ratings of 8.73 and 8.44 respectively.
Hiromu Arakawa created the original Fullmetal Alchemist manga, which has sold over 70 million volumes worldwide. The recently crowned Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime is a reboot of the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime series, which aired from October 2003 to October 2004. Unlike its predecessor, Brotherhood does not deviate from the plot of the original Fullmetal Alchemist: October 2004. manga. The film follows two brothers named Edward and Alphonse Elric as they embark on a journey to restore their bodies after a catastrophic attempt to revive their deceased mother. Brotherhood aired for 64 episodes from April 2009 to July 2010. After the series ended, BONES also produced a spin-off series titled Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos. It follows two brothers as they become embroiled in a grassroots uprising against the dictatorial officials of the Milos Valley.
Oshi no Ko launches in Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine in April 2020. The manga tells the story of a gynecologist named Gorou Amemiya, who undergoes a mysterious transformation that turns him into Son of the famous idol Ai Hoshino. While Amemiya greatly admired Hoshino in his previous life, his new form gives him a new perspective on his struggle to become a star. As Aquamarine Hoshino, Gorou tries to help his mother find happiness with the help of her twin sister Ruby. The story has received critical acclaim for its warm and scathing comments about Japan’s modern idol industry.
