U-Treasure, a Japanese-based manufacturer of high-end anime-themed jewelry, is launching a new line inspired by the steampunk sci-fi masterpiece, Fullmetal Alchemist. Starting August 21 (JST), the company began taking orders for the new Fullmetal Alchemist jewelry collection, which honors the Elric brothers and Colonel Roy Mustang.
As detailed in PR Times, this is U-Treasure’s first official collaboration with the Fullmetal Alchemist series, which originally began with Hiromu Arakawa’s manga of the same name. The collection, which includes a “Couple Ring Necklace” inspired by Edward and Alphonse and a “Colored Stone Ring” dedicated to Edward and Roy, is crafted with loving attention to the characteristics and themes that define each respective character. The products will be available through U-Treasure’s official online store, which offers international shipping through its retail arm, WorldShopping.
FMA's Edward & Alphonse Elric and Roy Mustang are the stars of U-Treasure's new jewelry line
U-Treasure’s “Double Ring Necklace” is dedicated to the unbreakable bond between Edward and Alphonse. The item features separate silver (or platinum) metal rings shaped like Edward’s automail arm and Alphonse’s armored body. The latter also features the famous “blood mark” that Edward created to bond Al’s soul to the suit. As described on U-Treasure’s website, the rings are designed to be worn while linked together, symbolizing the inseparable brotherly bond that binds Edward and Alphonse together. The retail price for the silver version, including tax, is 23,100 yen (~US$158). The platinum version, including tax, costs a whopping 176,000 yen (~US$1,203).
Edward’s “Colored Stone Ring” honors FMA’s beloved protagonist from a different perspective. The design features the state alchemist symbol embedded in Ed’s iconic red coat. A stunning synthetic ruby, surrounded by the links of Edward’s famous silver watch, is embedded in the center. Roy Mustang’s ring features a similar design, only the vibrant red of Ed’s ruby is replaced by a deep blue sapphire representing the color of Roy’s uniform. The Flame Transformation symbol is embedded next to the stone. Like the Couple Ring Necklace, both stone rings are available in silver (23,100 yen/US$158) or platinum (132,000 yen/US$903).
Fullmetal Alchemist takes place in a world where alchemy can be used almost as effectively as magic. In the quaint rural town of Resembool, Edward and Alphonse Elric grow up learning the techniques of alchemy under the loving care of their mother Trisha. However, when Trisha falls ill and dies, the brothers commit the ultimate taboo of alchemy—attempting to resurrect someone. The consequences are tragic, with Edward losing his arms and legs, and his brother Al losing his entire body. Determined to return their bodies to normal, Edward and Alphonse join the Amestrian military to obtain classified information about the legendary Philosopher's Stone, which is said to grant its user extraordinary powers.
While author Hiromu Arakawa initially believed that her manga would never sell domestically or internationally, Fullmetal Alchemist now has over 80 million copies in circulation worldwide (as of August 2024). Additionally, BONES (My Hero Academia, Mob Psycho 100) adapted the popular manga into two hugely successful anime series.
Pre-orders for U-Treasure's Fullmetal Alchemist collection will remain open until September 18, 2024 (JST). Items will be shipped sequentially, starting January 15, 2025. Prospective buyers can check WorldShopping for details on overseas shipping.
