What happened in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Episode #19?
Episode #19 continues the first phase of the First Class Mage Exam. Fern’s team is somehow able to quickly capture Stille, but this makes them a target for other teams looking to steal it from them. Frieren’s group attempts to capture Stille through a more clever plan by freezing the central lake, but this also makes them a target. The episode ends with Frieren’s team fighting the cunning magician Denken and his allies, while Fern fights the earth manipulator Ehre and her teammate Übel fights the experienced Wirbel.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Episode #20 Will End Various Battles
As time runs out before the first round of the exam ends, episode #20 will likely end the ongoing battles and begin moving on to the second phase. Due to the startlingly brutal first phase, these battles can end with many new mages dying during the First Class Mage Exam. Even if they don’t die, it seems that only two teams have captured Stille, mages not on those teams can be left out of the story. This is somewhat surprising given that some of them are spotlighted in the awesome new OP.
Although revolutionary Frieren doesn’t usually have big battles, when they do they’re always beautiful. Based on the animation in episode #19, the fights in episode #20 will probably be no exception.
