A talented One Piece fan has brought an exact animated version of Dracule Mihawk.
Created and shared on Reddit by Alex Shtein, the outfit features the former Sea Lord’s signature red and black coat and green feathered wide-brimmed hat. It also features Mihawk’s cross-shaped necklace, which One Piece fans know hides a small but deadly dagger.
The world’s strongest swordsman isn’t the only former Warlord to have inspired an impressive cosplay. For example, Donquixote Doflamingo’s attitude-filled personality was perfectly displayed in a cosplay that also showcased the pirate’s pink-centered style. Furthermore, the King of the Desert, Sir Crocodile, who was kicked out of the Warlord after attempting to take over the Arabasta Kingdom, inspired a gender-swapping cosplay. The post is titled “Crocodile aka Luffy’s mother” — a direct reference to a popular fan theory that the leader of Baroque Works is actually the biological parents of One Piece protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy.
One Piece’s Domination
Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece first appeared in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1997, and the ongoing manga consists of over 1,000 individual chapters. In some fairly recent events, the Marines removed the Warlord system, leaving former members without government protection. However, many pirates took the opportunity; Notably, Mihawk, Sir Crocodile and Buggy the Clown founded the Cross Guild, a new criminal organization. Many One Piece fans have speculated that the three will recruit other former Lords – like Doflamingo or Boa Hancock – to make the group even more fearsome and powerful.
Since One Piece entered the final story with the “Egghead” part, theories have become even more popular among fans as individuals try to figure out the many remaining mysteries of the story. In particular, Imu, who currently sits on the Empty Throne and has the highest authority in the World Government, has become the focus of many discussions. One fan theory uses the character’s name as the basis to explain the possibility that they are a god.
Furthermore, Red-Haired Shanks, the pirate who originally gave Luffy his straw hat, has inspired a lot of speculation. Based on recent storyboards and pacing, especially those from Chapter 1086, “Five Elders,” some seem convinced that the lovable, drunken and deadly Pirate Emperor actually has a secret connection to the tyrannical Heavenly Dragons.
Oda’s One Piece manga is distributed in North America by VIZ Media, and Toei Animation’s anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
