Fan Fairy Tail and Edens Zero have been waiting for news about author Hiro Mashima’s latest manga since the new series was revealed earlier this year. Finally, the release date and title have been confirmed, and fans won’t have to wait long to see his brand new DEAD ROCK manga.
DEAD ROCK’s release date was confirmed by Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine, which also publishes most of Mashima’s other titles in their weekly magazines, and subsequently by the author himself. They have confirmed that the new manga will launch in the August magazine, which will officially release on July 6 of this year. While fans already know that a new manga series is in the works, this release announcement has given fans a little insight into what they can expect from the manga as it unfolds. has an official name, art, and release date.
DEAD ROCK Released on July 6th
Unlike his longer series, Mashima herself has stated that DEAD ROCK will be short-lived. The announcement also comes with the official art of the main character, the demon Yakuto. According to Mashima, the series will be different from anything he’s tried so far, although the art revealed so far still bears the distinctive style seen in the characters of Fairy Tail and Edens Zero. DEAD ROCK will be a dark fantasy about demons and Dead Rock, the training ground of the Demon Kings, focused on tracking down Yakuto as he tries to join the academy.
Even with many successful series, it seems Mashima still wants to challenge herself. His other series have shied away from being too dark or gritty, so fans are keen to see how DEAD ROCK will tackle darker themes in the dark fantasy genre. As Fairy Tail: Hundred Years Quest continues and Edens Zero season 2 continues with the manga, Mashima will have full hands on adding another manga to the mix. However, it seems like he’s just as excited about this new series as the fans are, and it doesn’t look like he’s taking a break anytime soon.
With a July release date, fans finally have a date to look forward to. With so many different Hiro Mashima series still being published and adapted, fans won’t get bored waiting to read DEAD ROCK. Fairy Tail and Edens Zero are available to stream on Crunchyroll, and physical copies of the manga can be found in physical stores like Barnes and Noble.
