Summary
Sukuna’s stolen cursed techniques, Ten Shadows and Mahoraga, changed the balance of the fight in his favor by allowing him to adapt to Gojo’s attacks and create open for yourself. Gojo’s fatal miscalculation was to underestimate Mahoraga’s ability to adapt to the environment, allowing Sukuna to target not Gojo but the space he was in, thus rendering Limitless useless. Sukuna still has untapped potential with the other cursed techniques, showing that he has finally surpassed Gojo in power.
Only when Jujutsu Kaisen fans think Satoru joyous finally put an end to Ryomen tribe, King of Curses scored one of the most shocking wins in manga history. While fans understand how strong Sukuna is, Gojo’s skill set, experience, and confidence suggest he will win. Indeed, throughout the fight, Gojo had effective counterattacks in all of Sukuna’s moves. Gojo clearly had the better strategy – until the very end.
Gojo vs. Sukuna was the fight Jujutsu Kaisen fans had been waiting for since the manga launched, and it proved to be as fierce as they expected. At the beginning of the series, Gojo easily handled Sukuna, but that battle only lasted ten seconds and Sukuna was not at his full power. However, since that time, Sukuna has taken over Megumi Fushiguro’s body, along with his Ten Shadows curse technique, comes with an extremely powerful cursed spirit known as Mahoraga. It was that and a serious miscalculation by Gojo that helped Sukuna win the day.
Mahoraga changed the balance of the war in Sukuna’s favor
Gojo enters the fight with several advantages. He was born with the rare Gojo Clan Six Eyes special ability and Infinite inheritance technique. Limitless turns the concept of infinity into reality, allowing the user to distort and manipulate space at will, and Gojo can combine it with the Six Eyes, which reduces his cursed energy consumption and increase accuracy. Their combination allows him to manipulate space so that nothing can hit him. Furthermore, Gojo is also a master tactician – always thinking several steps ahead of his opponents. However, Sukuna is not known as the King of Curses for nothing. Sukuna’s domain extension technique, Malevolent Shrine, allows him to penetrate Limitless’s protection and attack Gojo.
While Sukuna only relies on his “basic” curses, Gojo proves to be a more powerful witch., which is why Sukuna decided to exploit Megumi’s Ten Shadows ability to summon Mahoraga. Although Sukuna was able to penetrate Gojo’s Infinite technique with his own Domain Expansion, he was unable to use his cursed technique at the same time. Mahoraga’s power is that it can adapt to any attack thrown against it if given enough time. Mahoraga solved Sukuna’s problem by taking the job of stabbing Infinite away from Sukuna. Thus, it freed Sukuna to use his cursed energy attacks as soon as Mahoraga created an opening.
Sukuna Secures Victory With Surprising Last-Second Strategy
However, Gojo knows all about Mahoraga and its abilities. Accordingly, he adjusted his attack to take down Sukuna before Mahoraga could fully adapt, or so he thought. The point is that Mahoraga neither stops the process of adaptation nor limits itself to one form of adaptation. So, after realizing that it was having trouble successfully adapting to Gojo’s Infinite abilities on the fly, it decided to expand its focus. Instead of adapting to Gojo, the company decided to adapt to the environment in which Gojo operates – which is the space that Gojo occupies.
When Sukuna understood what Mahoraga was doing, he also changed his tactics. He plans to learn from Mahoraga’s adaptation and apply it to his own cursed technique.. Instead of trying to hit Gojo’s body, he hit the gap where Gojo was operating. In other words, if Gojo were a character drawn on glass, then Limitless would make it impossible for someone to touch the glass where the figure was drawn. But it cannot prevent someone from touching other parts of the glass where the drawing is not drawn. So Sukuna realized if he broke the glass anywhere there was no drawing, the cracks would eventually spread and destroy the drawing on it, and there was nothing Gojo could do to stop that. .
This was Gojo’s fatal miscalculation, and Sukuna seized on it by unleashing the “world-cutting slashes,” a new technique that “extends into space, existence, and the world itself.” , thus making Gojo not its target, rendering Limitless useless. This was later briefly explained in chapter #246 as “dismantling (Sukuna’s usual slashing technique) is enhanced by a wider cursed technique attack area”.
In the end, Sukuna prevailed thanks to the help of Mahoraga, the technique he stole from Megumi. However, it is also true that Sukuna did not show his true form in the battle against Gojo, and that he had at least one more cursed technique (flame control) that he did not use in that battle. So while the battle seems over, Jujutsu Kaisen fans will have to admit that tribe finally passed joyousleaving behind one of the best battles in manga history.
