The anime adaptation of The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy has received a third promotional video, including a preview of the opening theme song “1000 Nen Ai” by Chiai Fujikawa and its two main female characters’ painful pasts.
The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur will begin airing in Japan on October 2 (that’s October 3 at 1:30 a.m. JST). The anime is based on the light novel series written by Yuu Shimizu and illustrated by Asagi Toosakawhich began in 2019 and has 13 episodes as of July 2023.

Yen Press describes the book’s plot as:
The battles between ancient kingdoms are nothing compared to the battles in the classroom!
Awakening from magical stasis after a thousand years, Dark Lord Leonis suddenly finds himself in the body of a ten-year-old boy! He soon meets Riselia, a girl who is confronting the Void, creatures that nearly destroyed humanity. Determined to uncover the mysteries of this strange new era, Leonis enrolls in Excalibur Academy, a school that trains students to fight against these mysterious monsters. Could the Voids have some connection to Leonis’ past?
Hiroyuki Morita (Bokurano) is directing the anime at Passione with Takayuki Noguchi (The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten) and Satsuki Hayasaka as a character designer, Kunihiko Okada (The Eminence in Shadow screenwriter) as composer and series scriptwriter, and Yuuji Nomi (Bokurano) as composer.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Marina Inoue as Leonis, Yui Ishikawa as Riselia, Aya Suzaki as Regina, Hiromi Igarashi as Elfiné, Honoka Kuroki as Sakuya, Arisa Nakada as Shary, Tomofumi Ikezoe as Blackas, Ai Kakuma as Roselia and Daisuke Hirakawa in Leonis’ demon king form.
The light novels are published under KADOKAWA’s MF Bunko J imprint. They inspired Asuka Keigen’s manga adaptation.
