Singapore-based film distributor Encore Films has revealed that it will carry the new film Hayao Miyazaki The Boy and the Heron comes to Southeast Asian audiences. Further details have yet to be announced.
In addition to Encore Films’ main Facebook and Instagram accounts, the announcement was also made on the distributor’s regional accounts in Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines and Vietnam.
The Boy and the Heron opened in Japan on July 14 with little promotion and is scheduled to begin showing in the US on December 8. It is Miyazaki’s first film since The Wind Rises 2013 and is believed to be his. (new) finally, currently the 74th highest-grossing film in its home country. The film’s Japanese title is How Do You Live?/Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka, the same name as the 1937 novel by Genzaburou Yoshino.
US distributor GKIDS describes The Boy and the Heron as:
