Luffy’s dream at the end of One Piece is one of the biggest mysteries in Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga. If you still haven’t caught on and want the identity to remain a mystery, then Beware of spoilers below. The closest fans get to Luffy’s dream is the reveal in One Piece Chapter 1060, when Luffy connects it to Sabo’s dream of freedom. He also suggests that it is something he can only accomplish when he becomes Pirate King. In Chapter 1060, Luffy recounts his dream about the Thousand Sunny, bringing almost perfect surprise and confusion, but also revealing that other than the Straw Hats, only Sabo, Ace, and Shanks knew. Due to Caribou being trapped in a crate on the ship, this led to widespread concerns on social media sites such as Reddit and Twitter that Luffy had revealed a secret.
One Piece episode 496; Ace and Sabo react to Luffy’s dream
The identities of those who knew Luffy’s dream were revealed with the release of One Piece Volume 107 on November 2, 2023, via One Piece SBS. Oda uses this section to conduct Q&A sessions with fans, expanding on important parts of the manga’s plot. For example, a previous SBS revealed Zoro’s connection to the Shimotsuki Family in the country of Wano. IN SBS episode 107, Oda revealed that Caribou hadn’t heard the conversation with an…*interesting* reason to pair: “A lot of people are worried about this, but please see the previous page,” Oda said. “His voice was barely audible as he screamed at the top of his lungs, it didn’t make it into the box. So no worries. No one other than the Straw Hats heard the end of Luffy’s dream!!”
This means it just Ace, Sabo, Shanks, Nico Robin, Nami, Brook, Sanji, Jimbei, Tony Tony Chopper, Roronoa Zoro, Franky and Usopp, who knows Luffy’s dream. Episode 107 has even more spoilers, so be sure to check out the Japanese version or buy the episode when it becomes available in English. VIZ Media holds the North American license to Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga series with over 500 million copies, which began serialization in July 1997. The manga has spawned a successful anime and released adaptation live-action adaptation of the series on August 31, 2023. Part 2 was announced on September 14, and Oda teased fans about the design of Chopper, the character who will appear next.
