The Rock’s return to Fast & Furious may seem a bit shocking, especially considering the star’s previous resoluteness with not wanting to work with the series’ star – actor Vin Diesel. Vin and Dwayne were at odds during the making of The Fate of the Furious in 2017.
While Johnson and Diesel have yet to reveal how this reunion unfolds, Fast X director Louis Leterrier – who replaced Justin Lin after the latter stopped production just a few days – has told his story for the film. The Hollywood Reporter.
When a THR reporter asked, “Who brokered the peace treaty?”, Louis immediately replied: “Peace treaty… I almost brokered it. We all did.”
“I got the idea and presented it to the producer and the studio,” continued Louis. “And then we reached out to Dwayne and his team and said, ‘Come and see the movie. You’ll fall in love with this movie from the first minute you watch it.” And he came to see the movie and really loved it, and then we started talking.”
“It went very smoothly, and frankly, as a fan, I can’t envision continuing the franchise without Dwayne or Gal Gadot.”
