According to the Mainichi Shimbun, Hideaki Omuran, the governor of Toriyama's hometown in Aichi Prefecture, “personally completely agrees” with fans that a museum should be built to commemorate the place where the late manga artist was born. Takashi Matsuyama, Toriyama's former official assistant and illustrator, agrees. “As a fan, I definitely want an Akira Toriyama Museum,” the 66-year-old artist said. “Fans around the world think so too.”

Before his death, Toriyama illustrated a new commemorative logo for Kiyosu City, located in Aichi Prefecture, for its 20th anniversary in 2025. His special illustration is a humorous depiction of a samurai, alluding to Kiyosu's connection to Japan's Warring States period. The Dragon Ball franchise will celebrate its 40th anniversary on November 20, 2024.
