The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero manga adaptation fails to achieve the dynamic and emotional pace of the film and fails to present the story in a meaningful way.
The pivotal chapter of Dragon Ball Super does not set up the next story arc
The main reason why Dragon Ball Super chapter #100 is so disappointing is because it does nothing to set up the next part of the story. While previous parts of the story ended with a reveal of what will happen next, Super Dragon Ball chapter #100 focuses solely on completing the adaptation Dragon Ball Super: Superhero, meaning it’s unknown what the next main story will be or when it will begin. The fact that the manga spent so much time adapting Super Hero is already controversial, but the lack of new content that should have been a milestone only adds to the pointlessness of it all.
The only thing that resembles a set-up for a future story arc is an early scene involving Carmine and the Red Ribbon Army. Unlike in the film, Carmine and the Red Ribbon Army are shown fleeing the scene following Cell Max’s defeat, implying that the Red Ribbon Army will reappear at some point in the future to Trying to take over the world again. However, if it is done immediately, maybe this is just the ending to put Goten and Trunks in the spotlight againSo overall, Dragon Ball Super still makes very poor use of its milestone chapter.
Dragon Ball Super has revealed the manga’s next big story
Dragon Ball Super chapter #100 does nothing to set up the next part of the story which is even more frustrating considering the hype and expectations surrounding it. One of the biggest reveals in the previous story, the Granolah the Survivor arc, was Frieza gains a new form called Black Frieza, this makes him stronger than Goku and Vegeta, despite both using Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego. Black Frieza has made Frieza a serious problem once again, so dealing with him will definitely be the focus of the upcoming story in the manga.
Some of the most recent news lends support to the “Black Frieza” theory. In the latest issue of V Jump, the magazine that publishes Dragon Ball Super in Japan, it was stated that Black Frieza’s power is close to that of the God of Destruction, implying that Frieza is almost as strong as Beerus, and if Frieza lives up to the hype, he might be back in the manga soon. However, that doesn’t change anything about how lackluster it is Super Dragon Ball chapter #100 does, but at least there’s something to look forward to in the future of the manga.
