Dragon Ball Daima is the latest series of the Dragon Ball franchise. Perhaps the biggest and most surprising announcement of this year’s New York Comic Con, Dragon Ball Daima is scheduled for release in Fall 2024, five years after Dragon Ball Super ended. With a completely new storyline, Dragon Ball Daima will definitely satisfy fans while waiting for Super to air again.
To celebrate the franchise’s newest entry, Dragon Ball Super manga artist Toyotarou made a cute drawing of a young Goku for his monthly drawing challenge. The monthly series features all kinds of sketches done by the talented artist, and it seems like he’s just as excited as his fans.
The sketch also features a message from him, which roughly translates to:
Dragon Ball DAIMA has just been announced!
I’m really looking forward to the release next fall!

It could be because Toyotarou is very close to Akira Toriyama, the creator of the Dragon Ball series, and works with him, but it seems like the anime industry is just as excited as many casual fans. His anticipation for the release of the new series shows how big Dragon Ball’s influence is on the entertainment industry and the world. Everyone is eagerly waiting for the drama to air. This could be due to nostalgia as fans finally get to see the child version of Goku and the last time they saw that was in the 1990s.
Taking place after the Majin Buu arc, Dragon Ball Daima is “A story that has never been told before in Dragon Ball”. A wish was made with the mighty dragon Shenron, turning many actors from the series into children: Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, Supreme Kai Shin, Picollo, etc. It is still unclear who is responsible for this wish, But the group must find a way to turn themselves back to normal. With two nameless villains on the loose and their bodies without their full power, Dragon Ball Daima will feature a fantastic adventure of beloved characters that will be a must-see. via.
Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama explains that Daima is a made up word meaning devil.
Dragon Ball Daima will have more oversight from Akira Toriyama than Dragon Ball Super, which is great news since he’ll be steering the series towards the original’s interpretation. As the wait for new episodes of Dragon Ball Super gets longer and longer, this new original series will make the wait a little more bearable. With incredible animations and visuals, presented trailers and an interesting storyline, Dragon Ball Daima will certainly make 2024 an even better year for anime than expected.
