The official Dragon Ball website has recreated the most iconic confrontation in the entire series, with Vegeta and Goku facing off in a vibrant battle sketch, originally drawn by legendary creator Akira Toriyama, from nearly 35 years ago.
A sketch of the fight between Goku and Vegeta was recently revealed in the August 16 issue of the ongoing Toriyama Archives series. Fans were able to see the “Akira Toriyama – THE WORLD SPECIAL” Goku vs. Vegeta sketch, which was first published on September 19, 1990, in a now-deleted entry on the official Dragon Ball website. Both Saiyans are moving at high speed, with the fighters’ facial expressions locked in intense concentration and effort. Readers can check out the image below.

Recent releases this week include a 1988 color illustration of Goku, Gohan, and a Bugatti-style race car, as well as artwork for Dragon Ball's Mercenary Tao, an enemy featured in Goku's first battle against the Red Ribbon Army.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero and Daima marks the return of the famous rivalry between Goku and Vegeta
The rivalry between Goku and Vegeta has spanned decades and is undeniably one of the most iconic rivalries not just in Dragon Ball, but in all of fiction. It took the top spot on CBR's 25 Greatest Anime Rivalries, ranked, with adaptations and re-adaptations in manga, anime series, movies, and more recently, games. The Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero “Rivals” trailer made waves upon its release, depicting Goku and Vegeta through various sagas and forms, including Kaio-ken, Great Ape, Super Saiyan, and their Super Saiyan God forms. The game will mark the first Budokai Tenkaichi entry since 2007, which recently dropped a new “Android Saga” character trailer below this week. The game launches on October 11 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. The rivals will also return in the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime series, whose plot in the latest trailer suggests a more pressing conflict than their usual rivalry will ensue.
