One of the earliest original drawings from Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga was revealed on April 2, 2024, featuring concept art of a young Goku wearing gi pants looking ready to fight. The drawing dates from around 1984, before the manga was published.
The artwork was revealed to be part of the Toriyama Archive – a daily Dragon Ball column on the official website (now deleted). “From manga to character designs to interviews, we feature a rare, hard-to-find look every day!” Trang said. “Each image can only be viewed for 24 hours after release, so be sure to stop by whenever you can!” The image of Goku was drawn before Dragon Ball was officially published, making it one of the oldest images released to the public.
