The long-awaited Dragon Ball Daima anime has a release date and a major production update, marking original creator Akira Toriyama's final involvement with the series.
Via Mantan Web, the highly anticipated Dragon Ball Daima anime series will premiere on October 11, 2024, with the first episode airing a special 10-minute episode. Notably, it was also revealed that all episodes of Dragon Ball Daima have been completed; Toei Animation's localization director Daniel Castañeda previously suggested that the series would have around 20 episodes.
Dragon Ball Daima will also be part of Fuji TV's brand new nationwide anime block every Friday at 11:40 PM JST. The announcement was made at the company's headquarters in Tokyo, with programming director Yuichi Nakajima saying, “All episodes of Dragon Ball Daima have been completed. Since it is a new work, we want it to be viewed on a nationwide network. Until now, it has also aired on Sunday mornings, but Sunday mornings are not a nationwide network. We are also aiming for a time slot that Dragon Ball fans and the target audience can easily watch.”
Nakajima added, “I hope we can spread the image: ‘It’s anime on Fuji TV after all.’” The decision to have Daima launch a new nationwide anime timeslot shows Fuji TV’s optimism for the series, which marks Akira Toriyama’s final involvement with the Dragon Ball anime series after his death earlier this year. He was in charge of the series’ story and character designs, along with other Dragon Ball Daima staff members such as series directors Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki.
