Since the release of promotional material for Dragon Ball Daima, fans have been sharing their theories about what new and old elements will make up the new anime's story. In the latest trailer, Daima has confirmed that a location from Dragon Ball Heroes, the Demon Realm (possibly called the Demon World), will play a major role in Goku's new quest.
With the appearance of a familiar location from the side series, there is a high possibility that characters from the demon world will appear in the main story. Considering the importance of Towa and Mira in Heroes, this demon duo may be “coming” this October.
To start, let's analyze the Dragon Ball Heroes series.
Originally a video game released exclusively in Japan, this side story was later adapted into its own manga and anime. While Heroes may not be considered “canon,” this is in its favor because it can pull off wild twists that games like Dragon Ball Super could never do.
In addition to introducing heroes and villains from the Dragon Ball Z movies and side material, it also introduces new demonic villains to the series. Towa and Mira are two of the most notable examples.
Dragon Ball: Who are Mira and Towa?
Not only is Towa a prominent character in the Demon Realm, she is also the younger sister of Dabura, a prominent antagonist in the Dragon Ball Z Majin Buu Saga. Unlike her brother, Towa does not have the high power level to fight Goku and the other Z Fighters physically. Instead, her strength comes from her superior intellect.
While working in the Demon Realm, she created Mira to be her bodyguard, using the DNA of several prominent figures and Dr. Gero's technology.
Mira and Towa have both appeared in several Dragon Ball video games, including the popular Xenoverse series, which allows players to create their own characters and join the Heroes' Time Patrol. In the latest spin-off anime series, Super Dragon Ball Heroes, the pair of demons have created a new threat named Fu.
Fu was first introduced in the video game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and later appeared prominently in Dragon Ball Heroes. He is a mysterious and scheming character who is the result of a fusion between the demon Towa and the artificial human Mira. He has a mixture of demonic and human characteristics.
Fu is a brilliant scientist who seeks to destroy the Z-Warriors and avenge the Demon Realm, after a series of defeats against both Goku and the Time Patrol.
Why did Daima want to introduce the demon duo?
From what we've seen of Dragon Ball Daima so far, it's clear that Akira Toriyama and Toei Animation had a plan in mind when creating this unique anime. When the first trailer was released, many anime fans believed that it was taking a lot of influence from Dragon Ball GT. This is because Goku and his comrades are transformed into younger versions of themselves.
The introduction of the Demon Realm in the recent trailer seems like a nod to the Heroes series.
Towa and Mira are an interesting pair of antagonists, believing that they are superior to those around them, thanks to their combined intelligence and strength, to fight against the Z-fighters. While it seems unlikely that the new versions of the characters will be exact replicas of the Heroes creators, if Toriyama and Toei are going to need demons to inhabit the Demon Realm, these two would certainly fit the bill.
