The upcoming anime adaptation of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land has received a teaser trailer and international release date ahead of its streaming premiere on Disney+.
Bandai Namco Entertainment’s official YouTube account recently posted a trailer for the new Toriyama anime project. According to Crunchyroll, the Sand Land anime will spend the first half restructuring the 2023 theatrical film for the small screen, while the second half will follow a new origin story. Six anime episodes are dedicated to adapting the Sand Land anime film, while seven more episodes are dedicated to new content, for a total of 13 episodes. The series will premiere on Disney+ on March 20 with seven episodes on its release date.

In honor of a major city in his home province, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama designed a new samurai-themed logo for the region.
In addition to the new trailer and online release, two brand new Sand Land anime characters named Anne and Meunière were also revealed. Anne is played by Japanese voice actress Mikako Komatsu, best known as Maki Zenin in the award-winning Jujutsu Kaisen. Meunière is played by Ayumu Murase, who also starred as Shoyo Hinata in Haikyu!!. The two characters will make their first appearance in the new TV anime storyline.
Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land video game adaptation is about to be released
Along with the upcoming animated film and television series, an open-world Sand Land video game will be released on April 25. Developed by One Piece: Odyssey developer ILCA, Inc. , the video game version of Sand Land will let players explore the desert wasteland as the evil hero Beelzebub. The Demon Prince will be able to enhance his combat abilities through a skill tree and customize various vehicles such as tanks, mechs, and motorcycles. The latter will play a vital role in the game, as enemies will also have access to a plethora of combat-ready vehicles, ensuring Mad Max-style carnage. Besides the action, the Sand Land video game will also feature dungeon exploration with the promise of loot.

The latest artwork from the official Akira Toriyama Archives introduces never-before-seen concept art of what would eventually become “Super Vegeta.”
The Sand Land video game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The Sand Land anime television series will be released in North America on March 20 on Hulu. Disney+ and Hulu, both owned by The Walt Disney Company, are preparing to merge into one app. The beta version of this merger is currently available to Disney+ subscribers.
