With the end of the Hidden Treasure Arc and the beginning of establishing Suguru Geto’s motives and ambitions, Anime fans were blessed with the start Shibuya Incident section famous.
Episode 6 of season 2 revealed the identity of the spy who leaked the information to Geto, who was none other than Mechamarua student at Kyoto Jujutsu High School.
Appearing during the Kyoto Goodwill Event for the first time as a mechanically cursed Corpse, Utahime revealed that his true identity is Kokichi Muta, a man born with a body fragile due to being limited by Heaven.
He made a deal with Suguru Geto where in exchange for secret information only available at Jujutsu High, he would get a healthy body, which was his lifelong dream.
Despite having regained his body, the mysterious Jujutsu student’s motivations were based solely on retaining his body and after regaining it through Mahito’s Idle Transformation, they began to fight. fight. We also see Mahito as the winner, but is Mechamaru really dead? Was his reason for betrayal justifiable?
That’s what we’re going to discuss here and without further ado, let’s get straight to the point!!
Is Mechamaru dead?
Short answer, Have. Mechamaru was killed by Mahito But let’s lay down the basics of the premise.
Kokichi Muta’s cursed puppet control technique allows him to control several puppets and due to his Heavenly Restriction, the range of control covers the entire city, allowing him to become who relays information effectively if required.
He can even control smaller entities like robotic mosquitoes if he wants. Regarding his physical body, he has been bedridden since birth because he was born without a right arm and no feeling below the waist.
An agreement was made between Kokichi and Suguru Geto, in which Kokichi would provide information to Kokichi and in return will get a healthy body.
Besides that, according to the agreement that was made, there was also a binding oath in which Mechamaru’s friends would not be harmed. If we recall the events in the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc, it can be understood that this part of the oath was not fulfilled because the Curse eventually defeated his friend Kamo and thus, Kokichi decides to act as a double agent.
He knew Suguru had to complete his portion of the Binding Oath and heal his body because Suguru had received his information. This causes Kokichi to make a plan in which after regaining his body, he will fight Mahito and Suguru and reveal all of their plans to Gojo Satoru.
Planning includes action sealed Gojo Satoru on October 31this will be the first step in Geto’s plan.
Kokichi is here to ruin it and he’s making sure that all of his damn time and energy he’s spent so far will help him in this fight. He reveals his Magnum Opus: Ultimate Mechamaru powered by 19 years of stored curse energy and challenges Mahito.
Ultimate Mechamaru is capable of firing Curse Energy in the form of a beam of destructive power which Geto notes is equal to the attack of a Special Class Curse Soul. Although Mahito can dodge many of his attacks, he has another trick up his sleeve.
He built four containers New shadow style: Simple domain. When Mahito is hit by this tube, it will directly affect his soul and disable Idle Transformation. It’s an effective tactic because it affects him directly.
Even when Mahito uses his Self-Embodiment of Perfection, Expanding his Domain, the same tube acts as a counter as one of the few ways to protect himself from his guaranteed attack. Extending a domain is using Simple Domains.
Inserting the tube into Mahito, Kokichi believes he has exorcised the God of Cursing but his celebration lasts only a few minutes as Mahito reappears in his multi-legged form, catching him off guard. Reaching for another pipe as a last ditch effort, he couldn’t make it in time as Mahito delivered the final blow.
Acknowledging the effort required to take him down, Mahito explains that he was able to deactivate his Domain and explode just as the Domain simply attacked and gave him a false sense of security. . With this, Mechamaru’s life of suffering came to an end, albeit physically.
How did Mechamaru appear in Shibuya in Yuji’s ears?
It was in chapter 90 that the strongest Magician Gojo Satoru was surprised by Kenjaku aka Suguru Geto while using the Prison Realm. Mechamaru had a backup plan that would only happen after Gojo was sealed.
Right after chapter 90 ends, the first panel of chapter 91 shows a transmitter trying to communicate with Yuji through his ears. After revealing himself to be Mechamaru’s puppet, he relays the information that Gojo has been sealed. Mechamaru also explains why he suddenly appeared.
Mechamaru died on October 19 after his battle with Mahito and these puppets were a backup plan he made. He puts a puppet on Yuji because he is the least likely to be a mole.
This puppet will only activate if Gojo Satoru is sealed. To explain this phenomenon in a more understandable way, Reddit user u/namewithak provided a clearer explanation:
This is a binding Oath based on Mechamaru’s death and Gojo’s seal. The ability to leave behind sentient remnants of oneself would require an equally insane state, e.g Gojo is sealed. The oath will only activate when the two aforementioned conditions are met, and once they are met, it will give life to the puppets even after Mechamaru’s death.
Even though Mechamaru bet on a very unlikely situation, he won the bet and this is how he was able to become the sole medium of relaying information to the Jujutsu Mages, thus playing a role important role amid the chaos of the Shibuya Incident.
Conclude
Even though he was born without a normally functioning body, Kokichi Muta still tries to live and walk alongside his peers. Appearing before everyone as Mechamaru, his Cursed Technique allows him to control puppets, and due to the Heavenly Realm, his range reaches a huge radius.
He agrees to a plan put forward by Suguru Geto, who will give him a suitable body in exchange for information. Although initially working towards said goal, at some point Mechamaru decided to act as a double agent.
Knowing the full plan to seal Gojo and cause havoc in the streets of Tokyo, he is determined to take action and share it all with Gojo Satoru and Jujutsu High once he gets his body. Also protected by the Binding Oath, he knew he had the advantage but Mahito’s deadly fighting style proved to be a very difficult barrier even with the technology Kokochi had developed over the years.
Even his nineteen years of stored curse energy was not enough to take him down.
Although he died before being able to relay any information, he had a backup plan in mind where he had previously placed a puppet in Yuji’s ear and the puppet would only activate if Mechamaru died and Gojo is sealed. Gambling on the very low chance of success, it was finally paid off and it allowed him to relay information about Gojo’s sealing.
